McDonald’s, Starbucks and thousands of other stores will accept Bitcoin as payment. Companies will rely on Strike, a payment solution based on the Lightning Network, for ultra-fast transactions.
This April 6, 2022, Bitcoin 2022 Conference, one of the biggest events dedicated to Bitcoin, has opened its doors in Miami. During this event, many players in the world of cryptocurrencies report on their projects.
This year, Jack Mallers, founder and CEO of Strike, a payment application based on the Lightning Network (an overlay of the Bitcoin network), announced the compatibility of its services with Shopify, NCR and Blackhawk.

400,000 brands will accept Bitcoin as a means of payment
Now, all sites and merchants who rely on Shopify (the platform that makes it easy to build an e-commerce site), NCR (a payment solution for commerce) and Blackhawk (a specialist in gift and customer cards) , will be able to accept Bitcoin through the Lightning Network. This overlay of the BTC network makes it possible to perform very fast transactions.
“Any online merchant using Shopify can accept payments without the ‘boomer’ network that dates back to 1949, receive them instantly, in final cash, no middleman, no 3% fee”tackled Jack Mallers, a fervent defender of cryptocurrency.
During his presentation, the CEO of Strike highlighted many of the best known brands who are involved in this partnership. Jack Mallers’ presentation slide notably displayed the logo of McDonald’s, Walmart, Home Depot and Best Buy. These are the most important brands in the American market.
Other brands associated with NCR or Blackhawk, such as Starbucks, are also involved in this major partnership. According to the founder of Strike, 400,000 brands are now able to accept Bitcoin payments through the Lightning Network.
Note that El Salvador, the first country to adopt Bitcoin as legal tender, also relied on Strike’s technology to complete the project. With this announcement, Jack Mallers hopes to give a boost to the adoption of the queen of cryptocurrencies. For now, the contours of this announcement are still very vague.
