Continuation and more battle royale
If you remember, it was Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, in 2008, the one that definitively marked the success of the franchise by shooting up its sales and turning it into the phenomenon that it is today. So it was normal that it was Infinity Ward, responsible for that feat (without Vince Zampella, yes) who had the honor of reimagining what modern warfare would be like after the parenthesis of vanguard last year and its World War II.
Basically, what they have done is continue the history of the Call of Duty Modern Warfare of 2019, showing all the adventures that Task Force 141 has yet to be done in a game that will come to PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, Xbox One and PC, not only within the Battle.net store but also, and this is important because it marks the return of the prodigal son, to Steam.
As always, the multiplayer will not be everything and we will have a campaign, which has been set up to be a strenuous experience, with little rest: sieges on the high seas along with submarine combat, air assaults from 30,000 feet on enemy fortresses and, of course, stealth missions that, as defined by the company, will be “low profile and high risk” protected in the dark of the night. The cooperative mode will also have its place in Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 since, as it says in the trailer, “the most advanced weapon is the team”, so it will be an important point to enjoy the story that this game tells us.
Graphic engine and battle royale
The graphic engine of this game is an evolution of the one we already saw in 2019 for call of duty modern warfare, so we can wait a hybrid version designed to work on consoles of two generations. Although it looks very good, it will not be 100% native next-gen so we will have to wait until next year, at least, to feel the full power of our PS5 and Xbox Series X | S with a version really designed and developed to take full advantage of all the performance.
Even so, from the company they assure us that «Modern Warfare II features a physics-based material system enabling state-of-the-art photogrammetry” as well as a “new hybrid tile-based transmission system, a new PBR rendering system, volumetric lighting, 4K HDR, as well as new GPU geometry.”
The arrival of war zone 2.0, so Activision makes the right decision not to number its games but simply talk about versions. Although he does not offer many details, they talk about will be available with own content Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 and, very importantly, mobile experience on smartphones that, at the moment, is under development, so we will certainly not have it available next October 28 when the Infinity Ward title hits stores.
First gameplay of Modern Warfare 2
And the Summer Game Fest arrived, and how could it be otherwise, good old Geoff Keighley had reserved one of his World Premiere to make way for what would be the first gameplay of the Modern Warfare campaign. The video, quite long in duration, shows an assault on an oil platform that shows a lot of action in each of the scenes. Pure Call of Duty.
