Cowabunga! The 5 best Ninja Turtles games

Unless you have been living under a rock for the last thirty years, you most likely remember and even adore the Ninja Turtles, who under their ninja chan belt managed to collect an infinite number of television series, film adaptations and, of course, dozens of video games for all consoles and systems since the 90s of the last century.

The best games of heroes with a shell

And it is that on this occasion, to celebrate that our favorite reptiles return to theaters with Ninja Turtles: Mutant Chaos We have decided to bring here the games that are, in our opinion, the five best starring Leonardo, Raphael, Michelangelo, Donatello and other characters from the franchise.

Come on, with nothing more to say, we shut up and begin.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (Arcade)

We start this list with what is surely the most iconic title of the characters. This game, which arrived for arcade machines shortly after the start of the animated series that entertained so many children of the 80s and 90s, is a simple hack n slash in which we will have to face all ninja and/or mutant that crosses our path. Devilishly funny… to say the least.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV: Turtles in Time (SNES)

Serving as a sequel to the arcade game, this cartridge in terms of gameplay did not innovate too much compared to its predecessor. Of course, he put a little more cane into the story, since we would control the turtles by traveling through time, so the scenarios had more variety than in its predecessor. If you are fans of the Ninja Turtles, you cannot miss this game because you cannot imagine what it meant to have something similar to an arcade on the TV in the living room. Amazing!

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tournament Fighters

We are not going to deny that a fighting game with Ninja Turtles characters sounds like a great idea, and in fact, it was. Both on Super Nintendo and Mega Drive. In this game we could fight against our friends using characters from the franchise such as the turtles themselves, Master Splinter and even the lethal Shredder. You can’t imagine how many hours of fun this game gave us back in the day.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan

Now, jumping towards the most current console generations, Mutants in Manhattan toit completely abandons the arcade style of previous installments to fully delve into the most frenetic and unbridled action, in addition to telling us a story that could perfectly be in a movie. Besides, in gameplay it reminds us a bit of the Marvel Ultimate Alliance, so it is a worthy successor to the Konami classics. It came out for PS3 and Xbox 360 and in 2016 it had a release on PS4.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge

Going back to the franchise’s gaming roots, with a total arcade style and the return of the elements hack n slash this is a spiritual successor to the first releases in the franchise, boasting graphics worthy of a 90s coim-op. If you grew up playing the original titles, this game will take you back to your childhood and you can squeeze it in PS5, PS4, Xbox, PC and Switch.

And a final extra…

By the way, the first three games that we recommend are available in the collection that came out a few months ago, called Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection where besides you have other cartridges from the 90s developed by Konami. You have it for Switch, PS5, PS4 and Xbox.
