Dassault Systèmes and IBM will accelerate sustainable digital transformation with virtual twins

Dassault Systems and IBM they have decided expand their collaboration on sustainable digital transformationthrough the signing of a memorandum of understanding with which they combine their technologies to support companies in their transformation, but without neglecting sustainability.

This collaboration is proposed as a support to companies, which have to face various challenges, on a day-to-day basis and in their digitization process. From rising energy prices to disruptions in the supply chain and operations, to geopolitical situations, an aging workforce and climate risks.

To address them, both Dassault Systèmes and IBM have decided to combine Dassault Systèmes’ 3DEXPERIENCE platform, as well as its experiences in virtual twins, with IBM solutions for file management, resource optimization, environmental risk management and ESG governance.

The combination of experiences of virtual twins of teams, infrastructures, value networks and territories, with optimization solutions for weather data and green IT data, for example, will help improve collaboration and knowledge sharing in systems engineering teams. , manufacturing and operations. Also to making operational decisions that are faster, safer and more sustainable for assets, people and processes. On the other hand, it will also make it possible to integrate considerations of compliance with industrial and environmental regulations in all processes.

Dassault Systèmes and IBM will be in charge over the next few months of structuring the details of their offer, assessing their options jointly. Once this is done, they will offer it first to operators of water and energy distribution and transmission projects. Also to operators of wind farms, airports and IT infrastructure projects based on data centers.

Among the examples of use cases that can take advantage of this collaboration in the energy and civil infrastructure sectors is the calculation and optimization of the carbon footprint in data center operations. Thus, they will be able to automate actions that proactively provide more efficient use of computing, storage, and network resources. Another of these use cases is the improvement of airport operations, thanks to obtaining information on the status and maintenance of assets, meteorological data and global weather forecasts.

The products and services they will offer Dassault Systèmes and IBM will also allow combining optimization and simulation capabilities. In this way it will be possible to improve, for example, the location of the physical assets of the wind farms. Another of the use cases of the combination of digital transformation products and services of the two companies is the optimization of operations and renewals of public services. Among them, electricity transmission, water supply and sanitation.

Ana Paula de Jesús Assis, President and CEO of IBM for EMEAhas recalled that «No There is no better time to reinvigorate the collaboration between IBM and Dassault Systèmes, as solving sustainability challenges requires the collaboration of an advanced ecosystem of business partners. We are convinced that enriching virtual twins with real-world data will enable companies to improve their operational efficiency and reduce their environmental impact, especially in asset-intensive industries. Throughout our history, IBM has sought to be at the forefront of making our world a better place, and our Net-Zero 2030 ambition confirms our commitment. We are developing a comprehensive and differentiated portfolio of sustainability software and consulting services, in concert with our ecosystem of partners.«

For his part, Florence Verzelen, Vice President of Industry, Marketing and Sustainability at Dassault Systémeshas highlighted that «IBM has long been a valued partner of Dassault Systèmes, and we share a deep commitment to accelerating the sustainable transformation of industries. This new step aims to help our customers reduce their environmental footprint in sectors that are urgent priorities in the context of the current energy crisis. Combining IBM sustainability software and expertise with our 3DEXPERIENCE platform, sustainability portfolio and virtual twin experiences can offer unmatched ways to address the challenges of achieving net-zero ambitions and driving the circular economy.«
