Digital payments are the preferred option of more than half of diners

The hotel sector has evolved at great speed in recent years thanks to the different processes of digital transformation. In this field, it has been possible to observe the great boom in digital innovation and it is worth noting that, according to the study of «Digitization in Hospitality»the digital solutions that arouse the most interest among those surveyed are the front-end tools, with digital payments occupying the first position with 81%.

This is because, according to the Global Restaurant Scene 2022 study conducted by Oracle, 56% of diners prefer other payment methods rather than paying in cash.

From the need to offer the diner more digital payment methods, even without a card, software such as Pikotea arises, a digital solution that makes it easier for restaurants to incorporate different forms of payment. Through a QR Diners can pay instantly, as the amount on the bill is automatically updated, which improves the entire process related to sales services.

Thus, digitization helps restaurants to get more integration and automation of their business. One of the big problems facing the restaurant sector is the time it takes to serve the diner. According to a study of global restaurant trends, 30% of consumers get upset if it takes more than 10 minutes to serve them.

Through a digitized system, time can be optimized, shortening waiting time and thus gaining quality of service. Guillermo González-Outón, co-founder and CEO of Pikotea, comments, “On the other hand, with our software, diners can order as soon as they arrive at the restaurant, from their mobile, thus speeding up the process. Since through the system, the order arrives at the waiters’ device.”

The importance of hospitality software

This sector has not only experienced the severe consequences of the recent closures, but has also seen the rise of digital technologies. Digital transformation affects products, processes and business models alike. It is for this reason that, according to the Hospitality Digitization Study, 51% of hoteliers in Spain consider that digitization is key for the sector.

The most successful digital tools among businesses are above all those that belong to the direct dealings with customers (payment methods, Wi-Fi network, cards with QR code…). However, investment in digitization also focuses on improving the job quality of workers in the sector. This is achieved by digitizing processes such as inventory control, order management or placing orders with suppliers through digital platforms.

Thanks to the appearance of digital tools in the cloud such as Pikotea, which allows you to connect both through the web and through an APP, restaurants can be digitized more easily.

Guillermo González-Outón, co-founder and CEO of Pikotea, adds, “On a more technological level, we propose how to use digital services to achieve the highest levels of integration and optimization in the sector. Always trying to make the operation of our software as easy as possible and accompanying hoteliers in their learning curve, in order to reach the 30% of hoteliers who, according to the Hospitality Digitization Study, consider that digitization brings benefits.”
