ElonJet “flies” to Threads

Surely you already know the history of ElonJet, although you may not identify it by name, so it’s best to start as stories should always begin, at the beginning. Elon Musk is the great champion of freedom of expression, the main defender that the voice of the people is the voice of God and, perhaps by self-imposed divine mandate, from day one he made it clear to us that censorship never, but never of the I would never make it to Twitter. With him in charge, we were going to really learn what freedom of expression and participatory democracy were. The applause of some in the face of such a declaration of intent still resounds in the environment.

On November 7 of last year, reaffirmed its commitment to freedom of expression with this tweetin which he stated “My commitment to free speech even extends to not banning the account that follows my plane, even though that is a direct risk to personal safety.«. And as an honest person, committed to everything she says she is committed to, a little over a month later she removed ElonJet, which is the name of the account she had claimed she would not ban. Oh, and to reaffirm her commitment to freedom of expression, the next thing she did was also delete several accounts of journalists who had reported on what happened. Is the good old Elon the great guarantor of freedom of expression or not?

Public pressure was quite strong, achieving in this way that a large part of the deleted accounts were restored, although in between Elon Musk threatened to sue Jack Sweeney, the young student responsible for ElonJet. His account was also able to return to the social network but, yes, with the commitment to apply a time lag between Musk’s private jet flights and its publication in the account. This, despite the fact that we are talking about public information, freely accessible from the Internet.

Elon Musk is quite angry with Meta for the launch of Threads, to the point that, as our colleagues at MuyComputerPRO reported this morning, he is considering filing a lawsuit. Something that, sorry for Musk already, but will surely have the effect of amplifying interest in Meta’s new social network. And now the billionaire has another reason to be upset with this new service, since ElonJet has already registered in Threadswhere we can be sure that he will continue to publish the movements of Musk’s jet, in this case without having to apply the rule created in Twitter to limit their activities.

So far he has only published three messagesthe first announcing his arrival at the service, a second message in which he quotes Mark Zuckerberg asking for permission to remain in Threads, and a third in which he echoes the threat to sue Meta, a notice that he relates to the threat in this sense that he himself suffered, and that to this day does not seem to have materialized.

The temporary expulsion of ElonJet from Twitter undoubtedly had the opposite effect to that desired by Musk, as the popularity of the account and its creator, Sweeney, reached all-time highs, and caused it to jump to many other social networks in which that he has been able to continue reporting freely. To be an Internet expert, it seems that Musk skipped class the day they explained the Streisand effect.
