FRITZ!Apps get better with the FRITZ!OS 7.50 update

The AVM firm offers an interesting software ecosystem that improves and expands the possibilities of using its products, and within it, the following stand out: FRITZ!Apps, a suite of applications which have received numerous updates since their release, and which are fully free.

It is not enough to launch a good software ecosystem, it must be maintained, and for this it is necessary to release updates that allow improve the security and functionality of such applications. In this way we will keep them up to date, and they will continue to offer interesting value to the user.

That is precisely what AVM has done with the FRITZ!Apps, which after the release of FRITZ!OS 7.50 have received new functions that we are going to explain in detail in this article. I remind you that these applications are compatible with mobile devices based on Android and iOS, and that you can find them in the application stores of each operating system (Google Play Store and App Store).

What’s New in FRITZ!Apps with FRITZ!OS 7.50

The first change is also the most obvious, as a new design has been introduced in the Mesh network overview in MyFRITZ!App, which now shows FRITZ! and home network devices connected to the wireless network so that we can see everything important at a glance. We can also assign names to our devices in the application, as well as prioritize internet access from certain devices, such as your work laptop or gaming PC, for example.

The MyFRITZ!App application is, in my opinion, one of the most interesting that AVM offers within its FRITZ!Apps ecosystem, because allows us to obtain a large amount of information about our network, and also about the devices that are connected to the wireless network even when we are away from home.

As we anticipated, it now offers a greater visibility of Mesh networks (or mesh networks) made up of a large number of devices. Thanks to the FRITZ!OS 7.50 update we can see to which router, repeater or network adapter each device is connected, as well as the quality of its Wi-Fi connection, we can rename devices and give them preference in the wireless network, as we said.

In its version for iOS, MyFRITZ!App has also been included a help assistant for users with less knowledge that allows them to configure, in a very simple way, the access from the mobile to the user interface of their FRITZ!Box router.

FRITZ!App Smart Home is the AVM application designed for the digital home. With it we can control the brand’s own devices (such as smart plugs or thermostats), as well as those of other home automation manufacturers. With the FRITZ!OS 7.50 update, scene management has been improved, that is, the configuration of various smart devices based on a specific scenario or time of day from predefined templates.

For example, when we get home we can adjust the air conditioning to our comfort temperature, turn on the lights and deactivate the answering machine, all through a simple touch in the FRITZ!App Smart Home application on our mobile phone. There is also a default scene for leaving home, and users can create their own scenes.
