Galaxy Tab S8 confirms that Samsung is on the hunt for iPads

Galaxy Tab S8, the new generation of premium tablets from Samsung, aim very well to reduce the distance in sales compared to iPads. Evleaks has published what they say are the official renders of a series that should not take long to reach the market.

We’ve talked about it in other articles: Samsung is one of the few manufacturers that can stand up to Apple in the high-end tablets. After a few years of falling sales, this market segment ‘resurrected’ last year and 2022 is expected to be a good year for electronic tablets. From what Evleaks tells us and from previous leaks, we can know that Samsung will market the series in three versions that we are going to detail.

Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra

It will be the largest and most powerful tablet ever marketed by Samsung. Will use a screen 14.6 inch OLEDHuge for this segment and bigger than ultraportables. Its refresh rate will also be of interest: 120 Hz. We see a noticeable cutout of bezels compared to the previous generation and a notch in the upper center for the front camera. Thin and light, it is said that its thickness will be only 0.55 cm for a weight of 650 grams.

As for the internal hardware, there has been talk of the premiere of the Exynos 2200, the Next-gen SoC being developed by Samsung with 5nm manufacturing, an 8-core CPU and a 5G modem. However, this chip will be the first to emerge from the strategic technology supply agreement signed with AMD and will allow it to offer a GPU with RDNA2 architecture with 6 computing units and 384 Stream processors. 8/12 GB of RAM and 128/512 GB for storage, with a 12,000 mAh battery with 45 W fast charge complete a high-level hardware.

Galaxy Tab S8 Plus

The second model will feature a 12.4-inch OLED screen with adaptive refresh rate of 120Hz. It will also use the “fastest next generation processor”, 8GB of RAM and 128/256 GB of storage. It will weigh 575 g, with a thickness of 0.57 cm.

The basic version will use a screen 11 inch TFT and the 120 Hz of its older brothers. It will use the aforementioned Exynos SoC, 8GB of RAM and 128 / 256GB of storage. Its battery will have a capacity of 8,000 mAh with a fast charge of 45W.

All models will feature an in-display fingerprint sensor, four speakers, and will include Samsung’s S-Pen stylus. They will mount dual sensor cameras and a new premium keyboard with support for different modes (laptop, tablet, drawing or entertainment). Samsung will pre-install its new custom One UI 4 interface on Android 12 and will offer the series in Wi-Fi, LTE and 5G versions. Pricing will start at $ 740.
