Goodbye HBO Max: Hello Max
Tomorrow, Wednesday, the heads of Warner Bros. Discovery (you know, the new firm resulting from the merger of WarnerMedia with Discovery) will announce the plans for their new streaming service. Under the name of Max We found a new platform and brand image in which HBO Max content will be mixed with that of Discovery and which will officially be operational in May or June, according to sources close to the parties involved in the project.
The executive David Zaslav, current president of Warner Bros. Discovery, assures that with this merger he will turn his product into “one of the top streaming companies in the world”, capable of competing with Netflix and Disney, namely, his biggest concerns to current level of competition.
As indicated in the North American publication, there will be a plan of 16 dollars per month (which is the price that HBO Max has now in the US), in addition to other payment options, including one with advertising. At the time we pointed out that this cheap version would be planted at 10 dollars while there would also be a higher price –the most expensive on the marketNo more and no less than $20.
This leaves us with great uncertainty in other countries such as Spain, where many of us have taken advantage of a supply plan that until now had been respected. Does it mean that we will have to say goodbye to that promotion?
“50% discount forever”
Many will remember that at the end of October 2021, HBO Max launched a aggressive promotion on the occasion of his landing in Spain. With it, he assured everyone who signed up for his service would enjoy a “50% discount forever”, which means that instead of the 8.99 euros per month that it costs, you could benefit from a monthly payment of only 4 49 euro.
There are many who were encouraged by this discount, with which everyone had access to the great HBO Max catalog at a more than manageable price. And it is that having the possibility to see Succession, The Last of Us, Game of Thrones, the house of the dragon either Homeland, among many other great series, for example, it is a bargain for less than 5 euros per month.
The problem is that HBO Max disappears and therefore there is no service anymore with which to keep this lifetime discount promise/contract. Max will be a new platform and everything seems to indicate that any offer that has been handled in the past will be loaded. Most likely we will see some prices with a 1:1 conversion for the three plans that are expected, so that we could be paying 10, 16 or 20 euros to access this new catalogue.
