Xbox Game Pass Ultimate has been available for a long time under a trial mode that, for just one euro, allowed us to enjoy all its content. It is clear that this type of promotions are a “hook” to attract users to the servicesince once the one-month promotion for one euro has ended, the normal fee begins to be charged unless the user unsubscribes.
The truth is that the promotion was very interesting, and that we could take advantage of it to enjoy a large number of games for a month for only one euro, but unfortunately Microsoft has decided to end it. We will no longer be able to get the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate trial for one euro, and it is confirmed by Microsoft itself.
Kari Perez, head of global communications in the Xbox division, has commented that:
“We have finished the introductory offer for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass, and we are evaluating different marketing promotions for new members in the future.”
This leaves us with bad news that we have already said, and it is the end of that promotion for one euro, but it also leaves us with good news, and that is that Microsoft is studying new offers to continue attracting new users. We do not have details on what those offers will be like, but there are many interesting possibilities, such as offering discounts for several months or even significantly reducing the purchase price of subscriptions for long periods of time.
For the avoidance of doubt, and so that unfounded fears and rumors do not arise, Microsoft has confirmed that it does not plan to increase the price of Game Pass if it manages to complete the purchase of Activision Blizzard, something that as we told you recently is getting closer.
Right now we can only wait to see what new strategy Microsoft applies, if it differs depending on each market, and each country, which certainly seems very likely. I personally think that the most effective could be a special purchase offer for first subscriptions for three months, six months or twelve months that greatly reduces the total price.
