Google Pixel 7 Pro: specifications and price

Today has been one of the most important days of the year for Google, and it is that we have attended the presentation of this Google Pixel 7 Pro, the Google Pixel 7, the expected Pixel Watch and the also expected Pixel Tablet, although these last two devices, at least for now, will not arrive in Spain. And although I admit that the smart watch is most attractive to me, there is no doubt that the big stars of the day are the two smartphones of the search engine company.

And yes, at least at first glance, the Pixel 7 has left us with a good taste in our mouths, showing itself to be a really balanced high-end option, and with some strong points that deserve to be highlighted (such as the use it makes of artificial intelligence , or the focus on security and privacy), this Google Pixel 7 Pro climbs a few steps, earning the surname of Prothus establishing itself as one of the most interesting options among the top of the range of the various manufacturers that make up the high range.

There are quite a few, however, the similarities that we find between the Google Pixel 7 Pro and its “little brother”, so there may be users who do not see the jump so clearly. However, and in my opinion (which will be developed based on the data), screen, RAM and storage and, above all, photographic function, make the indisputable difference.

Google Pixel 7 Pro: technical specifications

As I indicated before, there are several differences between the two smartphones presented today by Google, and one of them, quite important as well, is the screen. In this case we find a panel OLED LTPO always on 6.7 inch (170 mm diagonal) with QHD+ resolution (1440 x 3120 dots at 19.5:9 aspect ratio), with a density of 512 dpi and a dynamic refresh rate of up to 120 hertz. Its brightness can reach 1,000 nits in HDR mode and scale up to 1,500 nits with maximum settings. To protect himself, he uses Gorilla Glass Victus.

When we launch to analyze the guts of the Google Pixel 7 Pro we find, as soon as we start, one of the first coincident points between both models, the SoC. The Pixel 7 Pro is also built around the Google Tensor G2, the evolution of an integrated that, without neglecting performance, focuses on key functions for processes related to artificial intelligence. And as I will develop later, this time that feature is combined with substantial advances in security, something that always deserves to be highlighted. The SoC of this Google Pixel 7 Pro is complemented by generous 12 gigabytes of LPDDR5 RAMand storage capacities 128, 256 and 512 gigabytes UFS 3.1.

Since we are talking about a smartphone, it is important to take into account its connectivity options and, in this regard, and how could it be otherwise, we are talking about a phone 5G mmWave and Sub 6GHz, for global cellular coverage for this generation. We will also have WiFi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2NFC, Google Cast (the evolution of Miracast technology) and geopositioning.

Its only physical connector is a USB-C port, data, audio (with compatible devices) and charging of your battery, 5,000 milliamps. At this point, we see another interesting similarity between this Google Pixel 7 Pro and the Pixel 7, and that is that in both cases, according to the data estimated by Google, this battery allows use of between 24 hours, with average use, and 72 hours, with extreme battery saving mode. And we also find fast charging, in this 23-watt model, induction charging and a reverse charging function.

Now, if there is a point where the Google Pixel 7 Pro gives its chest, without a doubt that is the one in the photograph. Not in vain, Google boasts of having, today, the best camera in the smartphone market, something in which both the optical elements that make up the physical part of the camera add up, as well as the software responsible for processing the captures, which relies more and more, and with better results, on AI. And it is that, for example, Google sticks out its chest with the zoom, which is supported directly by the SoC.

On the physical plane, The main camera of the Google Pixel 7 Pro has three elements (one more than the Pixel 7): a 50 megapixel Quad Bayer Octa PD wide angle with f / 1.85 number and that assumes the role of main lens, which is complemented (in a big way) with a 12 megapixel ultra wide angle f / 2.2, and a 48-megapixel f/3.5 Quad Bayer PD telephoto lens (remember that telephoto lenses always tend to be dimmer than wide-angle ones, for obvious reasons), which participates in that hardware and software equation responsible for zoom. To further improve captures, the camera also employs multiple sensors. For its part, the front camera, in a hole in the upper center of the screen, is based on a wide angle 10.8 megapixel f / 2.2.

A key point in which Google Pixel 7 Pro and Google Pixel 7 coincide is, without a doubt, that of security, from a holistic approach. From its physical strength, attested by the use of Corning Gorilla Glass Victus on both its front and back, as well as its certification IP68to the implementation of security directly from the SoC, with the Titan M2 security chip, responsible for protecting the data that must be secured, and for guaranteeing the reliability of the VPN connection that will soon be included among the Google One services of free for its users.

Thus, after this first review of its specifications, this Google Pixel 7 Pro is most promising, especially (At least in my opinion) regarding his photographic functions. It is interesting, at this point, to remember that Apple signed one of its great marketing moves, by putting the focus (pun intended) of iPhone promotion campaigns on their photographic functions. It is evident that Google dances to its own rhythm, but that it also looks sideways at those from Cupertino and draws very valuable conclusions from it.

Google Pixel 7 Pro: how, where and when

I start with the good news, which also happened with the Pixel 7, and that is that this Google Pixel 7 Pro will arrive in Spain on its launch date, we will not have to wait. At the moment it is in pre-purchase mode, but its arrival is imminent, in the case of the 128-gigabyte model, since its delivery is estimated for the end of next week, between Thursday the 13th and Friday the 14th. The less good news is that the 256-gigabyte model is shown as exhausted, although it is You can get on a waiting list. And the bad part is that, at least for now, it does not seem that the 512-gigabyte model is going to reach our market.
