Since last July 25, the Ministry of Culture and Sport is offering the Cultural Bonusa aid of 400 euros so that the youngest can enjoy cinema, theater, live shows or even digital products. This concept of Cultural Voucher has been proposed by other European countries, and its objective is to encourage the consumption of cultural products among the youngest. Throughout this article we will talk about who can apply for this bonus, how to do it and what the help can be spent on.
What audience is the Cultural Bonus aimed at?
The Cultural Bonus of the Ministry of Culture and Sports aims to young people who have turned 18 during this 2022.
All young people who have nationality or residence in Spain can request it. Young people who have asylum in our country will also be entitled to help. This aid will be extended over the next few years, so we can say that the Cultural Bonus can be requested by anyone born after the year 2004.
It is estimated that some 500,000 young people throughout Spain will benefit from this measure. According to the Government of Spain, this project has two objectives: to ensure that all young Spaniards can have access to culture and to support the cultural sector, which has been particularly damaged and affected by the pandemic —as well as by subsequent health measures—.
How is help requested?
If you meet the requirements that we have mentioned in the previous section, you must enter the official website that has enabled the Ministry of Culture and Sport.
You can request it in two ways:
- If you are already 18 years oldyou can apply your request with the electronic certificate or with your DNIe.
- If you were born in 2004, but are not yet 18: don’t worry. You can also request it with your Cl@ve PIN or permanent Cl@ve.
Once your application is approved, you will receive a virtual prepaid card in order to spend the aid. This virtual card is associated with the mobile phone. If your terminal is not compatible, you can request a physical card.
How can I use the bonus? Can I spend it on Amazon?
The Cultural Bonus offers you a maximum of 400 euros for you to invest in cultural products. However, the aid is divided into three different gamesand each of them has a maximum budget you can spend:
- 200 euros for live events: this first block groups the face-to-face events. You can spend a maximum of 200 euros on the following activities:
- Concerts
- festivals
- museums
- Theater plays
- Visits to Botanical Gardens
- zoos
- 100 euros for cultural products with physical support: any cultural product enters here, as long as it is not digital:
- Books
- Video games in physical format
- Movies and series on DVD or Blu-Ray
- Records (CD, Vinyl…)
- 100 euros for digital or online cultural products: in this last block we can spend up to 100 euros of the voucher on different digital products or services, such as the following:
- Subscriptions: whether for music services, series or even newspapers and magazines.
- Video games: in digital format or DLCs.
- Music: in digital format.
- Series, Movies and Documentaries in digital format.
You can only spend it in participating companies
You cannot spend the bonus on anything. It is necessary that the company that wants to benefit from the Cultural Bonus has previously registered on the relevant platform of the Ministry of Culture and Sport. Any company that has tax address in Spain You can request your participation. The deadline to do so expires on September 23, 2023.
About Amazon is ruled out of the programas they do not have their fiscal address in our country.
Does the Cultural Voucher have an expiration date?
There are deadlines both to claim the bonus and to spend it:
- Claim the Cultural Bonus: if you were born in the year 2004, you have from July 25 to October 15, 2022 to request your aid of 400 euros.
- Spend the Culture Bonus: as soon as you receive your card, you will have a maximum term of 12 months to consume your Cultural Bonus. After that time, the money left on your card will disappear.
