If you want to build an ecological PC, what material should your case have?

If you are one of the people who is concerned about the environment, then you will look for your PC case to be built with recyclable materials in order to avoid the mountain of garbage that is one of the biggest existing problems. Well, you have to know that it is not something that only obsesses you, since for some time now different manufacturers are adding sustainable solutions to their manufacturing processes when creating eco-friendly pc boxes

Little by little, environmental regulations impact how we know the PC industry and changes in tower manufacturing have not only come as a direct effect of aesthetic evolution, but also due to environmental awareness that has grown in recent years. years. Not only on a political level, but also on a social, business and industrial level. what has led to the inclusion of materials that are either biodegradable or can be recycled. Of course, this implies a special treatment of waste, which often cannot be carried out by ordinary users.

What materials are used to create eco-friendly PC cases?

We can define two types of materials, the first of which are those obtained directly from nature after a simple transformation process. Two materials stand out there, on the one hand, Glass that is usually seen on the sides of the photos, and, on the other, the bamboo, a type of wood that can be generated very quickly and in large quantities. What’s more, most existing wooden casings are made from bamboo. Nor can we forget about the use of aluminum in many cases, a metal that can be easily recycled and is often used especially for the structures of PC cases.

Although we can see examples of ecological PC boxes made of materials such as cardboard, these must support the weight of the different materials and not appear flimsy at any time, apart from having the ability to withstand high temperatures and obviously not rot with time. However, as we well know, boxes made of bamboo and glass are in the minority.

Ecological PC boxes

Most commonly used are biodegradable plastics.

However, most eco-friendly PC cases use fully biodegradable plastics and are exactly the same materials as 3D printing filaments. The clearest example is PLA, polylactic acid, that It is obtained from corn and sugar cane. Its ease of obtaining and, therefore, low cost is the most widely used. However, we must bear in mind that despite the fact that PLA is biodegradable, it requires an industrial composting process that can last from several months to a year to be able to use the material again.

Therefore, an ecological PC box will have a much higher cost due to the recycling process of the materials, but it is a present bet to avoid a future problem. All environmental policies are based on this and it is that for years various industries have increased profits by offering products that are not recyclable at all, at a very low cost, but which have become a serious problem over time.
