Internal communication only satisfies 32% of Spanish employees

internal communication has grown in importance in Spanish organizations in recent years. The improvement of the commitment and the performance of the workers, the increase of their well-being, the concern for brand image and the decrease in absenteeism and turnover are the main reasons why companies consider it important to develop a correct internal communication strategy.

Despite the evolution in the use of this function and the increase in awareness regarding its benefits, the apparent concern for the well-being of employees and their correct integration into the life of the company has only managed to 32% of workers are satisfied with the internal communication of the company to which they belong.

These data have been reflected in a recent study carried out by Steeple, the company that developed the first physical-digital internal communication solution. In it, it can be seen that the development of internal communication is far from obtaining optimal figures in companies in our country.

Difficulties in organizations

In Spain, more than half of the management positions (56%) are not aware of the difficulties that their companies present in terms of internal communication or are aware of them but are not interested in solving them. This fact means that only 14% of high-ranking employees in companies receive training in this discipline.

In this sense, Emilien Delile, country manager of Steeple in Spain affirms that “there are still many organizations in traditional sectors that do not have a communication strategy with workers, nor adequate channels to reach all of them. This is reflected in the fact that the majority of workers in traditional sectors, who do not have a company computer or mobile phone, are not informed of what is happening in their organization. Information does not flow, and this affects the company’s activity, well-being and the work environment”. It stresses, however, that “more and more companies see internal communication as an investment and not as a cost”.

Finally, this study shows that the main reason why it is not possible to implement a correct internal communication policy for those responsible for companies in our country is the lack of resources to be able to reach employees (30%), followed by the absence of data to help in decision-making (22%) and the lack of tools to disseminate information (22%).
