Like every year, Apple will unveil next fall a new generation of iPhone. Several months before its launch, we know that the iPhone 14 will be Apple’s last smartphone with a notch, while the iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max will both benefit from a new design with two punches.

Apple will therefore adopt a new design on its most expensive iPhones, but should not give in to the trend of cameras under the screen as Android smartphone manufacturers are doing. Indeed, according to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo and Ross Young, Apple will only introduce this technology from the iPhone 16 in 2024.

Apple will not adopt the camera under the screen before the iPhone 16

According to information from Ming-Chi Kuo and Ross Young, the iPhone 14 and iPhone 15 will not benefit from cameras under the screen. The sensors needed for Face ID will therefore be always clearly visible at the top of the screen for at least 2 yearswhile Android smartphone makers are slowly embracing under-display cameras.

Ming-Chi Kuo points out that this decision would not be linked to technical constraints, but more to marketing reasons. Indeed, Apple could wait a few more years to better differentiate its smartphones. The American giant is often criticized for its smartphones do not present enough novelties with each new generation. Introducing the camera under the screen too soon could therefore prevent Apple from highlight your iPhone 16 Pro over the iPhone 15 Pro.

As a reminder, for its iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max, Apple will mainly bet on the new design with two punches as well as on the new 48 megapixel photo sensor which will allow it to film in 8K. For its part, the main selling point of the iPhone 15 Pro would be its new, much more efficient periscope sensor. The selfie camera and the Face ID system placed under the screen would therefore be the main novelties of the next generation in 2024.
