Although technology directs us towards more advanced elements, the truth is that the most used security system today is still the password. We are talking about the alphanumeric password that we use to access our commonly used platforms and programs. Hence precisely the success of some password managers as is the case with LastPass or Bitwarden.
We refer to these programs specifically because the use of conventional password is becoming more and more widespread. This means that over the years we have to memorize a greater number of security elements of this type. If we add to this that the passwords used must be different and complex, memorizing them all is not an easy task. That is precisely where the aforementioned managers of these elements come into play.
To give you an idea of what we are talking about, say that they take care of store all our keys within a secure platform. In short, we will have the possibility of having these elements stored in a program, all under a master key. It is evident that we do have to memorize it and it should be as safe as possible. The reason for this is that it gives us access to all other passwords stored in the corresponding manager.

In addition to the corresponding master key that we have told you about, we must bear in mind that these platforms offer us other additional security measures if we wish. For example, as a general rule, most of these services store our passwords in a encrypted database.
Security algorithms of LastPass and Bitwarden managers
This is something that is carried out by means of a series of implemented security algorithms that are used by each of these platforms. As you can imagine, this is something very important so that no one can get hold of this sensitive data if they manage to extract the aforementioned database. But at the same time we must bear in mind that there are different security algorithms in this regard, so each password manager opts for one or the other.
Well, at this point we will say that both services mentioned use one of the most common encryption methods or security algorithms. Specifically, we refer to what is known as AES-256 that we find in many platforms and programs, as in LastPass. However, it must also be taken into account that the password manager of Bitwarden, wants to go one step further when it comes to protecting our passwords. We tell you all this because the aforementioned security algorithm, in this case we must add the use of skipped hash and PBKDF2.
Keep in mind that thanks to the implementation of PBKDF2 and configured as it should be, it greatly reduces the risk of leaks. This is a additional protection method which makes it so much more difficult to carry out a brute force attack, which improves the protection of such sensitive data.
