Less than 10% of Spanish employees feel committed to their company

One of the most important pending subjects for companies this year is being able to develop an attractive corporate culture for the workforce. The turnover of qualified workers is a serious problem for companies in our country, which, in recent years, have witnessed how the professional careers of their employees are becoming less long-lived.

According to the Gallup study “State of the Global Workplace” carried out in 2022, only 9% of Spanish employees feel committed to their current job, a figure that is four points below the world average of 13%. This figure reflects the importance of a company developing a correct wellness policy aimed at its team.

To help with this task, the HR multinational, Synergie, has drawn up a list of the aspects that employees value most in their workplace and that will help workers develop a long professional career within a company.

Time flexibility and teleworking

A study prepared by the National Observatory for Technology and Society (ONTSI) states that 84% of Spanish workers continue to demand more hours of teleworking and considers that the percentage of this way of working should increase in our country. Family reconciliation, geographical mobility or independence in managing work hours are some of the reasons why employees seek this type of labor advantage in the jobs they aspire to.

Improve engagement

Implementing a correct engagement or commitment policy will make the workers of a company feel happier to be part of it. This strategy will not only reduce job turnover and employee departure, but it will also improve productivity, since, according to the Gallup report mentioned above, companies that register better engagement rates increase their productivity by more than 20%.

To achieve this, strategies can be followed such as making a satisfactory reception in the company from the first moment, planning and reporting their continuous training, as well as offering possibilities for growth within the organization. In turn, it will be essential to convey to each worker how their business achievements within the company and job recognition affect them, make them aware of the company’s vision of the future or improve internal communication channels so that workers have the possibility to openly express their suggestions or opinions.

Social benefits

In addition to the perception of adequate salary compensation according to their responsibilities and functions, workers increasingly value the social benefits that their company can provide them as a complement to their salary. Companies are increasingly aware of the impact that this factor can have on their employees, as they help reduce stress and increase their quality of life. Carrying out group leisure activities and offering medical insurance, diets, flexible hours or continuous training are some examples of this type of benefit.

Appropriate business culture

In recent years, due to the increase in public awareness about social and environmental problems, the business culture and values of a company have become one of the factors most valued by employees. If a worker feels that his company is committed to the causes that concern him, he will experience a greater sense of belonging and carry out his daily tasks with greater commitment.

Good leadership by leaders

According to a Gallup report carried out in 2022, 50% of workers claim to have left a job with the aim of running away from their supervisor or manager. Encouraging the personal and professional development of a workforce is one of the most important tasks of a leader, as well as guaranteeing the best possible work climate or environment, as this will produce greater employee satisfaction and reduce the rate of voluntary job abandonment. .

Analyzing the needs of employees has become an essential task for companies in our country to develop a corporate culture that attracts workers and achieve high levels of productivity. Having a committed work team will allow us to meet the business objectives. To achieve this, it is necessary to take into account the priorities of the workers and know how to address them appropriately.
