Mac sales rise while PC sales fall

Not even the most optimistic executives who work at Apple Park had dreamed of such spectacular success as the one that Apple’s entire range of Mac computers are experiencing once again. And all this is undoubtedly due to the generational change from Macs based on Intel processors to current ones. Apple Silicon with the company’s own ARM chips.

A new market study has just been published this week, showing that while Mac sales are on the rise, PC sales are in free fall.

IDC has just published a new market study on global computer sales in the second quarter of 2023. And its figures are spectacular for Apple’s interests. Mac sales grew more than 10% compared to the same period last year.

A fact that draws attention if we compare it with the sales of PCs based on windows, which are still in free fall for the sixth consecutive quarter. Almost nothing.

Said report explains that the total sales of PCs fell 13.4% in this second quarter of this year, if we compare them with the same data from last year. A drop in sales that has remained the same for six consecutive quarters. Too much time.

It should also be noted that one of the reasons for the growth in sales of Apple computers compared to last year is undoubtedly due to the lack of stock that the company suffered in 2022 due to the pandemic. So in part this year’s sales are due to those that were not in 2022 due to a lack of manufactured units.

The fact is that the computer market is still in recession, while the market for smartphones and tablets increases. With these portable devices, we are less and less dependent on a computer, and that is certainly being noticed in the market.
