The Redmond giant has presented Microsoft 365 Basic, a new plan with which the company wants to reach a greater number of users, and which is directly integrated into its well-known office service, replacing the OneDrive 100 GB plan. There is no doubt that, due to its value and its starting price, it can end up becoming an excellent option for businesses and freelancers who have very limited budgets.
Speaking of pricing, Microsoft 365 Basic will cost $1.99 per month, although if we opt for an annual subscription the cost will be reduced to $19.99 per year, which means that we will get two months free. Under this modality the cost per month would be $1.66. It comes out very profitable, and does not represent a large investment. This plan will be placed above the free plan, and will fall behind the Microsoft 365 Personal plan, which is priced at $6.99 per month.
This is all very well, but I’m sure you’re wondering what Microsoft 365 Basic includes for only $1.99 per month, and the truth is that many things, as you can see:
- All Office suite applications. We can access them both in their web version and in the applications for mobile devices.
- 100 GB of cloud storage via OneDrive.
- Ad-free access to Outlook on the web and mobile.
- Enhanced security features, including data encryption in Outlook, attachment scanning, and suspicious link checking.
- Additional features for OneDrive, such as Personal Vault, expiring and password-protected links, ransomware data recovery, and mass file storage, though this is only coming soon.
- Additional phone or online chat support for apps and Windows 11.
We will be able to start subscribing to Microsoft 365 Basic starting on January 30th. Its official price has not yet been confirmed, but most likely those prices will be converted directly into euros, which would mean that we could access this new plan for 2 euros per month or 20 euros per year.
