Most companies have struggled to fill jobs

At Sodexo Beneficios e Incentivos are no strangers to the challenges facing the field of human resources and they wanted to recall some of the conclusions of the “Sodexo Study of Trends in Human Resources 2023” which indicates that 73.1% of Spanish companies have had great difficulties in filling certain positions in the last year. A problem that worsens in companies with more than 250 employees, where the percentage of affected companies increases to 90.3%.

Regarding the reasons behind this situation, 74.8% of those responsible for human resources state that the shortage of profiles It is the main factor of difficulty when it comes to filling certain positions.

In addition, to the shortage of talent, the new demands of the candidates are added in relation to the value proposition of companies and, in this sense, 69.2% of HR managers consider that the demands of the candidates in relation to the new positions have increased. They point out that the main demands of workers when evaluating a new job are currently -in order- salary (61.9%), the existence of flexible hours and reconciliation options (47.5%) and the teleworking (44.6%). Faced with this situation, 41.7% of the companies are considering taking measures in the short or medium term to be able to respond to the requests of the candidates and thus achieve their incorporation into the companies.

Training as a tool to reinforce commitment

Faced with this situation, training and talent detection tools have become a key retention lever for employees and many companies. they are improving their plans to reinforce their commitment and capture new promises. In fact, 81.1% of companies state that they rely on training programs as a tool to train teams in these new skills and at the same time increase the worker’s own commitment.

Also, the study indicates that more than half of the companies (53.7%) are more inclined to train internal talent than to look for it outside. In addition, it stands out that 83.4% of the companies that have training programs already have or plan to offer reskilling plans for the development of its workers, something widespread especially among the largest companies.
