Silo It has undoubtedly been one of the great surprises of this 2023. The series came without making much noise to AppleTV+ and surprised both critics and audiences. It hasn’t even finished its first season yet, but the impression seems unanimous: the adaptation of Hugh Howey’s trilogy is turning out to be much better than expected. So much so that the apple content platform has not hesitated to renew it for a second season.

Silo, science fiction in its purest form

We don’t know what happened outside, but for more than 140 years, thousands of people have lived underground in what they call Silo and they do not know another reality that is not that. The gigantic underground structure allows people to live together in peace (albeit in levels) and work in different occupations, thus leading a life relatively similar to what was lived before on Earth. No one can talk about past times, any kind of reference to life outside of Silo is prohibited and if anyone dares to say that they want to leave, they will be condemned to do so forever, with the aim of cleaning Silo’s external sensors while enduring agony that will mysteriously lead you to death.

That’s more or less the approach. post-apocalyptic of the great story of Hugh Howeycreator of the trilogy Silo, A sales phenomenon at its premiere, in 2011, made up of the volumes “Mirage”, “Desolation” and “Vestiges”. Apple did not hesitate to notice the story relatively recently and put all its machinery (and money) in motion to adapt the complex story to the TV format.

The result? A proposal interesting, with a very well achieved atmosphere, which keeps you on your toes and with characters you want to know more about. We are not saying it: it is an opinion shared by both the specialized critics and the audience, in such a way that its renewal seemed inevitable.

Second season confirmed

No sooner said than done. After the success achieved, Apple has confirmed that Silo will have a second season where he will continue to develop the universe created by Howey. We still have three chapters left to close its first installment (episode 8, titled “Hanna,” opens tomorrow) but that has not been an impediment to making it official that we will continue to enjoy the series for longer.

Obviously it is quite a mystery when we will be able to see the season 2. Keep in mind that we are currently learning of delays of up to a year due to the writers’ strike, so starting this new phase of the series could also take longer than desired.

Meanwhile, at least we have three chapters left -yes, season 1 consists of 11 episodes- to continue seeing how things are going for Juliette in search of the truth
