Google just rolled out the December update to the Pixel 6s in hopes of fixing a host of bugs. Unfortunately, the firmware caused the problems on both smartphones to worsen.

Since their arrival on the market, the Pixel 6 from Google has been a series of bugs and malfunctions. Users have complained in particular of a fingerprint reader that is too slow, a faulty and intermittent 5G mobile connection, a blocked wired charging or even random phone calls in the middle of the night.

To correct all these problems, Google has committed to deploying a major update in December 2021. Deployed a few days ago, firmware doesn’t just fix bugs. The update notably brings the December security patch, adds support for the UWB (ultra wideband) chip, and unlocks the maximum 23W wireless charging offered by the Pixel Stand 2 charger.

Unfortunately, the December update does not correct all the bugs that have appeared on smartphones. According to numerous testimonies appearing on the web, the installation of the update even worsens the network bugs detected on the Pixel 6.

The mobile network always disconnects regularly for no apparent reason, whether in 4G or 5G. “I just downloaded the new update yesterday. I still have this problem where my network and my data keep dropping frequently ”, explains a user on Reddit.

For some people, sending SMS and phone calls have become impossible. For other users, the mobile connection remains stable but performance is particularly slow. Obviously, the most affected users reside in Europe. “I have incredibly poor network reception. I don’t have a bar in my house (previously almost full signal). Out under the blue sky I get a single bar ”, explains a German internet user.

Ultimately, smartphones continue to try to connect to mobile antennas, which is accompanied bydecreased battery life. Both models in the range are affected, the Pixel 6 and the Pixel 6 Pro. For now, Google has not yet communicated on the bugs generated by the update.
