Salvatore Scialdone is the new COO of Ontruck

The startup dedicated to road transport, ontruckhas recently appointed Salvatore Scialdone as the new Chief Operating Officer (COO). From his new position he will be responsible for leading the Operations, Finance and Human Resources teams, and his main objective will be promote the growth of the company, while increasing the profitability of the business.

Salvatore Scialdone had already been part of the Ontruck project for four years. In fact, he was responsible for carrying out the first phase of the company’s international expansion. Now, once again, he will bet on technology and talent as a lever for this new objective: “I will be the bridge between technology and processes to drive the growth of the company. I feel proud to be able to take Ontruck to the next level“, it states.

Italian by birth, Salvatore has had a notable international career, passing through companies in Italy, the United Kingdom and Spain. Among his experiences, his work for large international technology companies such as Amazon stands out, where he managed the pricing strategy as Product Manager; the American consulting firm Bain & Company, where he was an advisor on operations planning and project optimization; or the financial environment Bloombergwhere he acted as analyst and head of Sales.

Its profile is markedly technological, and its differential value lies in its control of finances and the strategy applied to operations. “I like the culture of data because it allows decisions to be made based on information, in order to optimize business planning”, Explain. Within Ontruck, he is specialized in the application of technology to processes to improve the experience of shippers, carriers and end customers.

New challenges

Scialdone will have to deal with some of the challenges currently facing the trucking freight industry. Among them stands out the seasonalitywhich generates very pronounced activity peaks with a high intensity of shipments, requiring both agility and maintaining service excellence.

Another of the challenges is the current context of uncertainty and instability in the sector, caused, among other factors, by the increase in the cost of fuel. And of course, sustainability, a matter of particular concern to the new Director of Operations, who is committed to reducing empty kilometers and polluting emissions thanks to technology.

His plan includes preparing the company for growth while keeping its corporate culture and values ​​intact.
