Sevillian Cabify drivers will be able to charge digitally, without using a dataphone

Card payments are advancing at breakneck speed and Seville is witnessing it. The Spanish fintech Divilo and Cabify are collaborating in the Andalusian capital to launch an innovative solution that allows drivers of vehicles connected to the Cabify platform to be able to make payments from your mobile phone, without the need for a traditional dataphone.

This is possible thanks to Divilo’s Diveep app, installed on drivers’ mobile phones, which uses the NFC technology to make the payments. Cabify users will be able to pay for the service by bringing their card or their own NFC technology mobile closer to the drivers’ mobile device, without the need to use a traditional dataphone.

This new payment solution has been tested in the vehicles of Vecttor – a subsidiary of the Cabify group – in Seville since March, and after its success, it is available to the rest of the collaborators in Seville who want to join. This project can be extended to other cities in Spain where Cabify operates, depending on the acceptance by the rest of the collaborators and users.

In this sense, Cabify users maintain the maximum security guarantees when paying for the service. In the ‘Payment methods’ option of the app, various options are available, such as cash, dataphone for payment in the vehicle (where Divilo is included), pre-loaded bank card, Paypal, Google Pay and Apple Pay.

Immediate and safe solutions

This pioneering solution in Spain, developed by Divilo in collaboration with Visa, wants to promote the digital transformation of companies and freelancers by helping them to carry out payments and collections quickly, safe and simple. Something that Juan Guruceta, founder and CEO of Divilo, has highlighted: “Our commitment is to facilitate the day-to-day of companies and freelancers in the management of their business through immediate, safe and efficient solutions, among which Diveep stands out. Passenger transport is a perfect example of the type of clients we can help, and this agreement with Cabify will allow us to offer service to drivers and passengers, making their payment process even easier”.

In the case of Cabify, this collaboration “It allows fleets and freelancers to continue innovating in relation to payment methods, with a simple and convenient solution that facilitates both their own internal management and the user experience, which will have an agile and completely secure payment alternative”explains Gonzalo López-Cerón, Director of Operations at Cabify in Spain.

For his part, Roble Dorronsoro, responsible for Merchants & Visa Acceptance in southern Europe, highlighted that “Initiatives like this take the payment experience to the next level, making it easier for consumers to make agile and secure payments on their journeys in an almost imperceptible way, while drivers can accept digital payments only with their mobile phones thanks to the innovative technology that we provide”.
