Sony hints that PlayStation 6 will be released in the year 2028

In a market where there is fierce competition such as that of video game consoles, it is normal for companies to plan for the very long term, so as a consequence of their moves to avoid the acquisition of Activision-Blizzard by of Microsoft, Sony would have revealed the possible release date of playstation 6which could see the light in the year 2028.

The company of Japanese origin exposed through its arguments against the purchase operation that Initial agreement to share Call of Duty and other Activision-Blizzard titles would expire in 2027, so PlayStation 6 would stay on paper without being able to receive the titles of that company. Following that statement, some have interpreted that the next Sony console would be released in the year 2028.

The corporation behind PlayStation has also argued that Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision-Blizzard would force many users to switch to Xbox through methods that are anti-competitive and would drive up prices. In order to counter Sony’s arguments, Microsoft initially offered the possibility of sharing Call of Duty for three years, a proposal that was described by Jim Ryan, CEO of PlayStation, as “inadequate on many levels.”

Faced with Sony’s refusal and with some antitrust regulators who have shown their reservations, Phil Spencer, executive director of Microsoft Gaming, decided to extend the proposed agreement to share Call of Duty and other Activision-Blizzard licenses to ten years. Sony, unless it is known to the public, has not yet given any response, but another refusal is to be expected on its part and that it continues to try to convince about the possible damages of an operation to which it is openly opposed.

Call of Duty has become the best-selling video game franchise in the last two decadesso losing said saga would be a great disservice to Sony, which has already recognized that Battlefield is far from being a real competitor in commercial terms.

Whether Activision-Blizzard will ultimately belong to Microsoft is in the hands of antitrust regulators. We remember that the British CMA did not hesitate to clip NVIDIA’s wings when it tried to take over ARM, so the Redmond giant has reasons not to trust itself.
