The Imaginary: the trailer of the new Studio Ponoc anime is online

Yoshiyuki Momose – director of the short film “Life Ain’t Gonna Lose” in the anime anthology Modest Heroes by Ponoc, of the film Ni no Kuni, and of the short film of the Olympic Games “Tomorrow’s Leaves” – is directing the film.

Yoshiaki Nishimura, former producer of numerous Studio Ghibli films, as well as Ponoc-branded films such as Mary and the witch flower And Modest Heroes, is producing the film.

What is The Imaginary about?

Rudger is Amanda Shuffleup’s imaginary friend. No one else can see Rudger, until the evil Mr. Bunting arrives at Amanda’s door. Mr. Bunting hunts down imaginary beings. It is said that he even eats them. And now he’s found Rudger.

Now the boy is alone and on the run with his friends in the Imaginary City they will have to face an epic adventure (“that no one can see”) in order to survive. He needs to find Amanda before Mr. Bunting takes him and before Amanda herself forgets him and condemns him to oblivion.
