the iOS version finally gets this long-awaited feature, 4 years after Android

iPhone users didn’t believe it anymore. 4 years after the feature arrived on Android, the iOS version of Shazam is finally able to identify songs within other applications. To do this, simply launch the analysis, then launch the song in question in the other application.

In 2019, Shazam brought an essential and yet missing feature to its application: the ability to recognize songs played in other applications. Only problem, the latter was reserved for Android users. A decision considered strange by some to say the least, knowing that Apple bought the application 2 years earlier, in 2017, for the trifle of 400 million dollars.

We thought that the functionality would soon arrive on iOS. We had to wait 4 years. It wasn’t until this week that Shazam finally broke the good news. It is finally possible on iPhone to identify the songs played in another application. In the era of TikTok and other YouTube Shorts, we can say that this one is timely.

How to identify songs within an app with Shazam

Indeed, all the applications will go through it: TikTok and YouTube therefore, which give pride of place to music with their short video formats, but also Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and other community platforms. It should be noted, however, that with a few rare exceptions, these already display most of the time the name of the song in question.

But sometimes that’s not the case, in which case you can now call on Shazam for help. It could not be easier. Just follow these few steps:

  1. Open Shazam
  2. Press the blue button in the center of the application
  3. Open the app that has the song you want to analyze
  4. Wait for Shazam to do his job

There you go, after a few seconds your latest musical crush will no longer hold any secrets for you. You will also find the song in the library tab, alongside the rest of your history. Wishing you of course a good listening.
