Netflix intends to repeat the success of Blindly with a continuation to the Spanish. Bird Box Barcelona, which is the name given to the new proposal of the red N, has already announced cast, synopsis and has even shown a small video preview to satisfy your curiosity. We tell you everything.
Blindly, an unexpected success
In 2018 Netflix surprised its subscribers with the “blockbuster” Blindly. This film, based on a book of the same name written by Josh Malerman, turned out to be quite a bomb on the platform, becoming one of the great successes of the streaming content service.
History placed us in the future apocalyptic in which a large part of the population has gone mad due to the presence of mysterious entities and the few that have survived do so by always hiding in the dark or, failing that, coming to the surface with their eyes closed or blindfolded so as never to look directly to these extraneous forces.
Sandra Bullock is the protagonist, putting herself in the place of Malorie, who, pregnant and with two children, finds herself in the need to travel with them to find a new refuge in which to find herself safe.
As we say, the thriller was quite a surprise, to such an extent that 5 years later, the firm has decided to replicate (or at least try) the phenomenon with a sequel recorded in Spain. Specifically in the beautiful city of Barcelona.
Bird Box Barcelona: what do we know at the moment
Considered an expansion of the story we met in 2018, Bird Box Barcelona tells us how after the arrival of a mysterious presence that is destroying the world’s population, Sebastian will have to start a survival journey through the deserted streets of Barcelona. Along the way, of course, he will meet other survivors, along with whom he will soon realize that there is “a new and unexpected even more dangerous threat.”
Directed by Álex and David Pastor, in the cast we find faces as well known as Mario Casas, who takes the leading role in this new Netflix movie. Georgina Campbell, Alejandra Howard, Naila Schuberth, Patrick Criado, Lola Dueñas, Gonzalo de Castro and Michelle Jenner, among others, also appear.
At the moment we do not have more information, such as, when can it be seen the title on the platform, although we imagine that with a first preview already underway, it will be a matter of very little being announced – perhaps by June?
