The Witcher 3 celebrates its seventh anniversary! On this occasion, CD Projekt Red announced that the highly anticipated PS5 and Xbox Series X version of the game, will arrive before the end of the year. It is scheduled for the last quarter of 2022. Great news for fans.
You should know that this “new-gen” version was, initially, slated for release in June. But the studio preferred to postpone the marketing to an indefinite date, the game not being ready. We feel here the lessons learned after the Cyberpunk episode, which had a catastrophic release in 2020.
The Witcher 3 Complete Edition will feature technical improvements
This new version of the game will bring a whole bunch of technical innovations. We can expect 4K 60FPS, reduced loading times and the addition of ray-tracing. The graphics should also be more polished. A treatment that we have already seen on another classic released recently on new consoles, namely GTA 5. This version will also bring all the content released until then, so all the small DLCs but also the two extensions , Heart of Stone and Blood and Wine.
As a reminder, The Witcher 3 was released in May 2015 (seven years ago, therefore) and is still today a mainstay of the RPG genre. Rich, captivating, gigantic, refined to the extreme, it is one of the best titles of the 2010 decade. With this new-gen version, it is a way for CD Projekt to capitalize on its success and reach new players.
As a reminder, a sequel is planned for The Witcher. This was announced a few weeks ago and for the moment, we have little information except that it will run on the Unreal Engine 5. CD Projekt Red continues to work in parallel on Cyberpunk 2077, which will host its first expansion sometime in 2023.
