This will be the price of the new Samsung Micro LED televisions, with a surprise in the 114″ model

During the last edition of the Consumer Electronic Show we were able to see the new generation of Samsung Micro LED TVs, where we saw three models with a diagonal of 89, 101 and 110 inches. Now we know the official price that these premium Smart TVs will have.

To begin with, the prices will start at 96 million won, about 71,430 euros to change, which would be the price of the 89-inch model. The big surprise has come with the 114-inch model, which would have an approximate price of 120 million won, about 89,300 euros to change. A tall figure, but considering that the 2021 model with a smaller diagonal, 110 inches, had a price of 170 million won, about 126,500 euros, we are facing a reduction of about 30%.

It is not the first time that he speaksLet’s take a look at the technologies that are emerging to lower the cost of manufacturing this type of product. In addition, Samsung has changed the substrate it uses for this type of panel. For example, the new 89-inch, 101-inch and 114-inch models they use low-temperature polycrystalline silicon (LTPS) thin-film transistors (TFTs) based on glass substrates.

With this, individual driving circuits can be implemented in Micro LEDs with smaller displays. Furthermore, the use of a pcb system (printed circuit board wiring) has made the process of joining the panels simplified.

Thus, Samsung Display and Taiwanese AUO will produce 12.7-inch TFTs for micro LED TVs and supply them to Samsung Electronics. Let us remember that a Micro LED screen is made up of different small screens to create a modular television of 89 inches (7×7 panels), 101 inches (8×8 panels) or 114 inches (9×9 panels).

The latest TrendFoce report indicates that Micro LED technology will grow year after year to become a regular in 2024. According to this company specialized in market analysis, this type of panel will gain weight in the home theater sector, as it can be the perfect replacement for a projector, and for business purposes.

Today, large-format advertising screens use self-emissive Mini LED panels, but it would make a lot of sense for them to become Micro LED screens in the future to offer a higher level of brightness and a much higher image quality.

But to achieve this goal we must reduce the cost of production of these panels, since today it is a product within the reach of very few pockets. Although it is clear that sooner rather than later this technology will be a consumer product as Samsung and other manufacturers working on their own Micro LED projects manage to find the key to lowering the cost of production and that buying a Micro LED television is not simply a whim of wealthy people. We’ll have to wait a few years…
