Windows Vista 2022 Edition is another one of those “concepts” that enthusiastic designers propose from time to time as an alternative to Microsoft operating systems. And you will like it for sure. Of course, if you think about why a company with enormous resources cannot replicate them, you have to insist on what we have said other times: transferring that vision from images to “zeroes and ones” in an ecosystem as gigantic as Windows is highly complicated.
Windows Vista 2022 Edition is a updating some of the visual concepts of the system with the latest design language used by Microsoft in Windows 11, ‘Fluent’ and ‘Mica’. And it is very well done as you can see in the images and video shown by the designer Abdi4789 on DeviantArt.
It should be remembered that although Windows Vista was once described as “one of the worst” Microsoft Operating Systems, visually it was as ambitious as it was attractive, with the Windows Aero graphical interface at the forefront, which offered transparency in the windows, switching between them or a preview of the ones that were open. The Windows Sidebar and its gadgets were another novelty in the interface along with Avalon, the API for drawing windows using vector graphics.
I must be from the group of users who liked Windows Vista, a lot, although I recognize that you had to have a high-end PC to run it and avoid operating instability on most computers that simply didn’t have the necessary hardware. And that in consumption, because in companies it was even worse and they simply skipped the version until Windows 7 arrived.
It was the main criticism that was not unique (such as software incompatibility, irritating heaviness of security warnings, unvalidated OEM applications…), but visually it was -for my taste- the most attractive thing that has come out of the Redmond headquarters .
On Vista’s Aero Glass, the designer includes modern concepts of Windows 11, the taskbar and start menu tuned, return of desktop widgets or revised applications such as the file explorer with ribbon and multiple tabs.
