On this occasion, thanks to the manufacturer QNAP we are going to raffle among all of you a router that also has the NAS server functionalities, the model that we are going to raffle is the QNAP QMiroPlus-201W, a really interesting model because it can work as a WiFi router with the Mesh function, and it also has internal storage to share files and folders on the local network and the Internet. This new WiFi router with Mesh has inside the QuRouter operating system to correctly manage and configure the router part, however, in the part of the NAS server we have the latest QTS 5.0 operating system with all the improvements in speed, security and new graphical user interface. Both the router and NAS part are “separate”, in fact, you could perfectly well just use the router and leave the NAS server part off until you want to turn it on.
This equipment has WiFi with AC2200 simultaneous triple bandThis means that we can achieve a speed of up to 400Mbps in the 2.4GHz band, and a speed of up to 867Mbps in each of the two 5GHz bands, therefore, we will have a great wireless bandwidth. This model has WiFi Mesh, if we use other QMiro routers we can create a large mesh WiFi network to expand the wireless coverage in our home. Thanks to the QNAP WiFi Mesh system we will have both WiFi roaming and band-steering, with the aim of having the best possible user experience.
Regarding the wired characteristics, we have a Gigabit Ethernet port for the Internet WAN and three Gigabit Ethernet ports for the LAN, therefore, we will be able to connect a large number of equipment via cable.
Regarding the characteristics of the NAS server, we have a powerful Intel J4125 processor at 2GHz speed, it has 4GB of RAM expandable to 8GB of total capacity, and two bays to house hard drives or 2.5 ”SSD drives. This model has the latest version of the QTS 5.0 operating system, therefore, we will have all the performance and security improvements, including the WireGuard VPN on QNAP that provides us with a greater bandwidth in downloading and uploading with the minimum consumption of resources possible.
In order to provide the maximum possible performance at the local network level, this equipment has one 2.5G Multigigabit port for the NAS Only, in this way, if we use a Multigigabit switch, we can connect this NAS at a speed of 2.5Gbps to transfer data at the highest possible speed. In our performance tests we have seen how we can achieve a speed of 290MB / s read and a speed of 230MB / s write.
