What do we expect from Samsung Unpacked? Don’t miss it today!

Next Wednesday, August 10 the South Korean giant will hold a new Samsung Unpacked event where it will present its new Galaxy devices.

It will be the second event of its kind in 2022 and can be followed on the Samsung.com web portal or on the manufacturer’s channel on YouTube. In Spain, it will start at 3:00 p.m. in case you want to follow it. And if you can’t or don’t want to, don’t worry because we will cover it live and we will promptly inform you of everything that is presented there.

Samsung Unpacked, what are we waiting for?

Samsung has chosen the month of August in recent years to present its new generations of folding smartphones to society and this year will not be the exception, as confirmed by the same promotional image of the event and the numerous leaks that have reached the Internet in recent years. weeks. It is worth remembering that Samsung monopolizes the majority of folding sales (above 70%) and does not want to lose his position of privilege. At least until Apple decides to market its folding iPhone…

In this way, the foldables will be the great star of Samsung Unpacked, but without forgetting other segments such as smart watches, headphones or perhaps a laptop. Although it will be an eminently hardware event, we may also see a hint of the next version of the user interface that Samsung offers on Android. We review what we can expect.

Galaxy ZFold4

It is without a doubt, the most advanced foldable mobile series on the market. No significant changes in external design are expected for the new version, but it does improve in very important sections in a foldable such as the redesign of the hinge that will make the fold of the screen much less noticeable.

Everything indicates that Samsung will maintain the size of its two screens of 7.6 and 6.2 inches, but varying its aspect ratio, the external one from 24.5:9 to 23:9 and the internal one that would go from 11.2:10 to 12: 10. It is unknown if the terminal will have a hole in the chassis to house the S-Pen stylus like the Note series.

As for the internal hardware, it will be upgraded with Qualcomm’s most advanced mobile chipset, the Snapdragon 8+ Gen1. It will have 12 Gbytes of RAM and Samsung is expected to launch the new storage chips to reach the Tbyte barrier in mobile phones for the first time.

The selfie camera is one of the weakest components in the current version, so improvements are also expected. The new Fold will be distributed in several color finishes, some new as a beige version with a hinge and gold edges. It is expected that they will release the version for Android 12L foldables with the manufacturer’s One UI layer. It is unknown if Samsung will lower the price line, very highbut consistent with the best folding money can buy.

Galaxy ZFlip4

The second of the new foldables that Samsung will present also leads its category. Quite different from the Fold (but for many users the same or more attractive), from what we have been seeing in the multiple leaks it will not significantly change its clamshell design and improvements will come from the thinner hinge with a narrower gap when folded.

The internal hardware will be updated with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus SoC and will offer configurations with 8 and 12 GB of RAM and up to 512 GB of storage capacity.

As for the screens, it is expected that the external expand its size, keeping the internal one in the 7 inches offered by the current multi-touch flexible OLED. From the renders seen so far, the terminal will be marketed in four color finishes (graphite, rose gold, violet and blue) and with the corresponding software update, Android 12L with the One UI layer. The price line is also unknown.

Galaxy Watch5

Beyond mobile phones, Samsung is immersed in another great battle to get closer to the sales of the Apple Watch smart watches that dominate the segment. Your recent partnership with Google to use the Wear OS operating system it is a good starting point and the new model will advance in that scenario.

Always according to previous leaks, Samsung will market its watch in three versions with a ‘Pro’ as the top variant and 45mm stainless steel dial. To highlight the absence of the rotating bezel that made this series popular in the search for something simpler, but maintaining the balance of design with elegant and sporty lines.

All versions will have a couple of physical buttons to the right of the screens, incorporating some digital features and functionalities such as LTE connectivity, GPS, or water resistance up to 5 ATM. There will be Wi-Fi only versions for those who don’t need a cellular connection.

Another novelty will be the battery size increase, up to 573 mAh in the top variant. The screen size of its AMOLED panel (about 1.3 inches) and its SoC, which will be an Exynos from Samsung itself, are unknown. Of course, there will be no lack of functions related to health and physical activity, with sensors to measure blood sugar levels, heart rate, electrocardiogram, blood oxygen SpO2 and VO2 Max.

With the latest version of Wear OS tuned up with Samsung’s interface and apps, we expect prices to range from $250 to $350. Maximum competition for the Apple Watch.

More hardware and One UI 5.0

In addition to the three main releases, it would not be surprising if Samsung also presented new versions of its samsung buds wireless headphoneswhich will underpin noise-canceling technology and increase the size of the battery both in the headphones themselves and in the case where they are stored and recharged.

We also leave room for the (less likely) announcement of some news in the PC section. Samsung does not have many series of personal computers, but what it does have is of high quality and last year it increased sales by 63% with the Galaxy Book as the standard.

We leave some software for last. Samsung opened last weekend the beta program of the new version of its user interface OneUI 5.0. It’s only available for the Galaxy S22 range and in three global regions, but it’s important because it’s based on Android 13 and has some big improvements of its own. It will be the operating system to which the new foldables update and it will be installed by default in the new releases of 2023 with a premiere in the Galaxy S23.

The summer Samsung Unpacked 2022 will be held next Wednesday, August 10 at 3:00 p.m. in Spain. Here we will offer you everything that is presented.
