This Sunday, January 16, the National Assembly adopted the controversial bill on the vaccine pass. Announced on December 27, it is intended to replace the health pass requested at the entrance to cinemas. Here is what will change.
After weeks of heated debates in the assembly, the vaccination pass was finally adopted by Parliament. A new stage in the fight against the coronavirus, which goes according to the Minister of the Interior Christophe Castaner “give the executive tools that he can activate one or the other depending on the situation”. As a reminder, the vaccination pass contains proof of a complete vaccination schedule or the result of a positive PCR test dating back less than 6 months. Unlike the health pass, it will no longer be possible to present a negative PCR test less than 24 hours old.
Compulsory at the cinema
This vaccination pass will be requested in particular in places of leisure such as bars, restaurants, but also in interregional public transport. Cinemas are also concerned, for implementation from January 20. On this date, it will therefore no longer be possible to present the result of a negative PCR or antigen test.
However, there are some subtleties. Thus, it will not be requested for spectators under the age of 16. The latter will be able to access the dark rooms with a simple health pass. For children under 12, no document will be required.
The new law also provides that staff can check the identity of pass holders, in case of doubt. “ “When there are serious reasons to believe that the document presented is not authentic and does not belong to the right person”. This verification will therefore not be systematic.
As a reminder, the use of someone else’s pass is punishable by a fine of up to 1,500 euros. Holders of a wrong step incur up to 5 years in prison and 75,000 euros fine.
Still no popcorn
Since January 3, the consumption of drinks and other sweets is simply prohibited in the cinema. A measure taken by the executive to force spectators to keep their masks on for the duration of the session, while the Omicron wave continues to sweep over France. Introduced for three weeks, it is therefore still relevant. For the moment, the government has not yet decided on its lifting.
The health situation is still far from improving, so we will have to do without popcorn. This Sunday, January 16, the government announced that 278,000 new cases of Covid-19 had been detected in the last 24 hours.
