Why don’t manufacturers indicate the autonomy of their wireless keyboards and mice?

Having a wireless keyboard, mouse and/or headphones has its advantages, such as eliminating cables or having more freedom of movement. Like everything, it has its cons, as there is usually a bit more latency than on one of these wired peripherals. But more and more we find information that is hidden in the product specifications.

I want to know the autonomy, not other irrelevant data

Every day we search major stores for product deals so you could save money. This also helps us to recommend interesting products and also to indicate products that may not be interesting. More and more we find ourselves with incomplete product specifications, an unacceptable bad practice.

Some manufacturers of keyboards, mice and headphones entry-level wireless hide an essential fact: the autonomy. Said information is not on the manufacturer’s website, which makes it impossible to know, before buying the product, how long we will have to use it.

If these manufacturers gave other parameters, we could get it quite accurately. Knowing the current (A)the voltage (V) of the battery and the capacity (Wh) from it, we could know the autonomy. In the end, the consumption (W) is nothing more than multiplying the current (A) by the voltage (V), a very simple operation. Then, we just have to divide the capacity (Wh) of the battery by the consumption (W) and we know the autonomy time.

The problem is that these manufacturers give us the current and voltage, but not the capacity of the battery (watt-hours or Wh). Clear, without the ability of the battery, that you give me the others data does not work for me for absolutely nothing.

When the manufacturer hides autonomy in the tab on its website, it leads me to think badly. The first thing that occurs to me is that it is a product with poor autonomy and, therefore, of poor quality. This is more bloody when if you look at low-end Bluetooth headphones this information is displayed and quite detailed (another thing is that it is real)

Luckily, only low-end brands do it.

Then we have brands that do things the right way. Companies like Logitech, Corsair, Razer and many others provide autonomy information. All these companies give the autonomy data with the RGB turned off and on (if the product has it), which is correct. Even in the Razer Deathstalker V2 Pro keyboard there is a comparison of autonomy. We can see the autonomy under the HyperSpeed and Bluetooth technologies according to the brightness of the RGB and the time of use.

Hiding this information, if you are a serious manufacturer that has nothing to hide, does not make sense. In the end, whoever buys a wireless peripheral wants to know how long the battery will last in both cases. If this information does not appear, it is more than enough reason not to buy the product.

Brands like Ozone, Mars Gaming, Tempest or Krom, among others, do not show autonomy. It is a clear mistake and a bad practice, since key information to choose the product is hidden. This does not mean that they are poor quality products, since they can be good entry-level options. Any reason given for not giving autonomy time is simply an excuse.
