Why you should buy a desktop PC instead of a laptop

Obviously, there is a fundamental difference in favor of the laptop, and it is the fact that, precisely, it is portable in the sense that it is very comfortable to carry from one place to another to be able to use it anywhere, while a desktop PC it will be fixed on a desktop and having to move it to another place would be a nuisance, in addition to the fact that it cannot be used anywhere. But, putting that aside, the truth is that a desktop PC has many more advantages than disadvantages compared to a laptop.

The advantages of having a desktop PC

Ok, we have already mentioned the first disadvantage of a desktop PC, which is the fact of always having it in a fixed position; However, the rest of the things that it brings you are all advantages, and that is what we are going to see next.

The first advantage, and it must be taken into special consideration if you intend to spend many hours in front of the computer, is the ergonomics. A laptop, in a way, forces you to use it in a certain position unless you have it with a dock connected to a keyboard, mouse and monitor, but in that case, why would you buy a laptop and not a desktop? The fact that it “forces” you to be at the desk allows you to have a correct posture, to place the monitor in the position you want and even to use an ergonomic chair that keeps you in a good posture.

This is something that a laptop will not give you, except in the case that we have just discussed; with a laptop, if you use it “bareback”, you will have a trackpad to move the mouse cursor that forces you to force the position of the hand, a small and uncomfortable keyboard that also generally gets quite hot since it has all the computer hardware below, and a small screen that forces you to look down. All this, with a desktop PC, you have it solved.

The second aspect to take into account is the performance; As much as a laptop has TOP hardware, it is almost always going to be inferior in terms of performance compared to a desktop PC. In addition, at the moment when the PC “falls short” it is much easier update and expand with new hardware than a laptop, so we come to one more advantage: the useful life is longer.

On the other hand, a desktop PC with the right hardware is much more silent than a laptop, and also works at a lower temperature. Laptops, since they have to integrate their hardware in a very small space, are forced to use blower-type fans that are not only inefficient, but are also much more noisy.

Finally, we must talk about price. In this area it depends a lot on the laptop and the desktop PC, of course, but if you want a laptop with decent hardware you will have to spend around €2,000, while if you want a decent PC, with around €1,200 you have plenty and You have a lot of budget left to buy a keyboard, mouse and monitor. Ok, if you want a gaming PC with a dedicated next-generation graphics, things change, but it will also offer you a gaming experience that laptops cannot (and those that can already cost more than €3,000).
