Adobe brings generative AI to its video editing tools with Firefly

Almost a month ago, Adobe presented, within the framework of its Adobe Summit 2023 event, its Firefly generative Artificial Intelligence tool, capable of generating images from text requests. The company then noted that Firefly was in the testing phase, and that when it was finished, they had plans to integrate its generative AI tools into their authoring apps. But they have done it even before finishing said test, and Adobe Firefly tools are now in the Adobe Creative Cloud suite.

Firefly will serve, as stated by the company, as a “creative co-pilot” to improve the idea and exploration processes for the creation of videos. It will also allow you to significantly reduce post-production time, which will go from days to just a few minutes.

In addition, having generative AI in the video editing and production workflows of Creative Cloud tools will allow its users to perform all kinds of operations faster and more agile. From tasks as simple as automatically changing the date of a video, to automatically annotating and locating a relevant video. They will also be able to create, without limit and in a more automated way, variations of video clips.

To enable these and other facilities, Adobe is experimenting with the possibility of using generative Artificial Intelligence in various options and functions. For example, to enhance the color text by giving only a simple instruction. So, with just a text request, Firefly can be made to change the color schemes, time of day, or seasons in recorded video by altering the mood and surroundings to give it a specific tone and feel.

In addition, Firefly will also support advanced music and sound effects, allowing creators to easily generate custom, royalty-free sounds and music to reflect a scene or set a mood. These effects can be used for both temporary and final tracks.

Firefly will also allow you to generate subtitles, logos, title cards and even add custom animations with just a few short instructions. In addition, it will be possible to speed up pre-production, production and post-production workflows. This is thanks to AI analysis of script text to automatically generate previews and storyboards. Likewise, it will be possible to have recommendations of video clips for initial or final cuts.

The AI will also generate personalized tutorials, making it easier for users to learn to master new skills, which will result in the acceleration of work processes with video, from the first ideas and beginnings to the creation and editing of the videos already engravings.

But Adobe is not going to stay here, since it has already confirmed that later this year they are going to introduce more new generative AI features for video, audio, animation, and motion graphics design in your tools and products.
