AWS Summit boasts of the region and embraces the digital transformation of BBVA

More of 6,000 attendees and a huge space in which to value the success stories of more than 40 clients. With these figures, the AWS Summit 2023 in Madrid was presented this morning. It is therefore not surprising that Miguel Álava, country manager of the American multinational for Spain, was especially proud in the keynote with which the event started and in which he boasted of what has been a particularly intense last year in Spain, as a consequence of the opening of the new region: «We have invested in enough renewable energy this year to be able to power 850,000 homes, and the AWS region in Aragon has already become a driving force for investment from other technology companies , such as DXC or Seidor. We are training more than 10,000 professionals and we are working to achieve this objective with more than 400 VT schools and university centers. We are also working closely with the different local communities to accelerate their technological development and we have a special fund with which we have already launched 19 innovative projects”.

The inaugural keynote also served to highlight the products that AWS has presented in recent months (with special emphasis on its new AI capabilities and new generative artificial intelligence models) and different success stories, among especially highlighted by a BBVA that has announced your commitment to AWS to accelerate your data-driven transformation.

BBVA grows with AWS

In this sense, Ricardo Oliver, BBVA Global Head of Data Engineering took the stage to discuss how it will use AWS to deliver advanced data and analytics services in the cloud, leveraging its analytics and machine learning to promote the transformation of its internal processes, improve the management of its risk models, boost growth and provide innovative solutions to its customers, such as the redesign of its banking App.

In addition, the financial entity has announced that it will create a new data platform that will be deployed globally and that will provide the different units of the bank with information and knowledge about the business and the market, increasing operational efficiency and attracting new customers, for which it will rely on technologies such as AWS Lake Formation and Amazon DataZone.

On the other hand, the company incorporates Amazon SageMaker to create, train and deploy models of machine learningas well as data analysis in an efficient way and you will have at your disposal access to the generative AI capabilities and large language models of AWS, including Amazon Bedrock, a fully managed service that provides access to foundational models through an API, allowing to explore the potential of advanced technologies and contributing to the development of new innovative financial solutions.

Throughout the event, attendees have had the opportunity to attend sessions focused on innovation and business growth, technical sessions to deepen their knowledge of AWS, demonstrations, and practical workshops.
