Empress strikes down Hogwarts Legacy’s Denuvo in a few days

The “anti-piracy” system of the fashionable game has lasted less than a candy at the door of a school. Yeah; Hogwarts Legacy’s Denuvo has already been superseded and DRM-free (pirated) copies are running on file-sharing networks.

Hogwarts Legacy is a great game as you could see in our review. Without a doubt, this immersive open-world action RPG is the best yet produced for the magical universe of Harry Potter. The sales figures do not lie. It has sold more than 12 million copies in the first two weeks and has become the best launch in the history of Warner Bros. Games.

It is also on track to become one of the largest in general by revenue, 850 million dollars so far according to official figures and that has not yet been released for some of the supported platforms, such as Nintendo Switch, PS4 and Xbox One.

The Denuvo of Hogwarts Legacy

go ahead than It’s a game worth playing and that if we want to support the industry and continue enjoying these great titles we must pay for them. And not hack them… something we neither support nor encourage.

Making the above clear, it must be said that the industry has insisted on using technologies such as Denuvo that applies digital DRM restrictions as a way to “fight against piracy.” Users hate this company and for good reason, since these types of functions have negative effects on performance (and in other areas) and imply no less cost for distributors that end up having an impact on the final price of the games. More expensive than ever, by the way.

These DRM technologies have been proven completely useless. Whether it takes hours, days or weeks, all games end up getting hacked. The Hogwarts Legacy Denuvo took just ten days (publicly, since the beta version of the patch was tested in small circles much earlier), with a hack being the responsibility of ‘Empress’, surely the most competent group today for these tasks.

The game is protected by the latest version “Denuvo v17” plus Steam’s own DRM, which can be easily overcome by these crackers. Empress does not (or should not) have access to the Denuvo source code, and yet has been able to defeat their DRM and anti-tampering technology in just 10 days. It would be better if the useless money spent on implementing Denuvo was used to lower the final price of the games or to launch them with better optimization, a problem in the times we live in.

Devoted from Hogwarts Legacy

The 12 million legal copies sold so far of Hogwarts Legacy are proof that gamers pay for good games. It is available on Steam for PC for 59 euros. If you’re looking for a deal, Amazon currently has lowered the price of the version for Xbox Series at 68 euro.
