European funding for a Spanish generative AI project for live event production

Currently, marked by technology and also by the visual, the different companies have focused their efforts on improving their communication. For this purpose, companies have found in online events a powerful tool that allow them to be much more accessible and up-to-date. An essential element with which to transmit messages effectively.

If anything has fostered business development, it has been generative AI, which has arrived to make life easier for companies and boost their growth. New developments now indicate the possibility for organizations to have a “virtual filmmaker”, an option that comes to replace the professional classic of the sector.

Until now, when a company intends to make a professional audiovisual production for an event, it needs to have the services of experts in video production and production. However times are changing and now with the imminent advances in generative artificial intelligence these professionals seem less and less necessary.

The first AI-based virtual filmmaker arrives

With these technological advances, the Spanish Enterprise Video Engagement platform, Watchity, has created an R&D project that has the financial support of European Next Generation EU funds. The project aims to create the first AI-based virtual filmmaker, thanks to which companies may issue their acts such as press conferences, product presentations or webinars.

The Spanish company has developed a technology that will be able to analyse, understand and interpret the context in which the event is located thus enabling production decision-making in real time. Another aspect to take into account is that since it is based on machine learning, you will be able to detect objects and identify peopleas well as movement patterns and expressions through image and voice.

Watchity’s innovative technology will enable companies to create and share video content on different social networks. Its differentiating and determining element is its ability to carry out simultaneous transmissions to several social accounts at the same time, as well as the ability to produce a live event in television format, that is, with labels, overlays, multi-camera, generation of 2D or 3D graphics or the activation of virtual sets.

The CEO of Watchity, Albert Rodes has declared in this regard that “the functionalities that Watchity provides to companies and organizations that produce content for social networks allow them to maximize the reach of their events and help them improve results”.

The project has the collaboration of VRAIN (Valencian Research Institute for Artificial Intelligence), and its arrival will allow technological development and also entertainment through professional filmmakers. With its development, the Spanish startup will be able to offer the creation of events at a professional level, more interactive and with a great viewing experience than platforms based on videoconferences.

For the Spanish company, this is a key moment to be able to take communication one step further, and that is that in an increasingly audiovisual world, companies need to renew themselves. At Watchity, we understand the urgent need to have tools that help different organizations to connect with the audience, reinforce brand positioning and get more engagement.

European funding

For such production, the Spanish company has had European funds Next Generation EU. These funds are included within the framework of the Plan to Promote the Audiovisual Sector Spain Audiovisual Hub of Europe, the Agenda “Digital Spain 2025”, the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan and the State Plan for Scientific, Technical and Innovation Research 2021- 2023, through the aid program for R&D projects in the audiovisual and videogames sector managed by the CDTI (Center for Technological Development and Innovation), a center under the Ministry of Science and Innovation.

In this sense, CEO Albert Rodes has pointed out that “Thanks to the invaluable financial support of the European Union and the Government of Spain through the CDTI, this new technology will democratize professional audiovisual communication in companies and will mean a before and after in the application of video at events.”.
