HONOR presents its top of the range Magic5 Pro and the foldable Magic Vs

HONOR is another of the manufacturers that has gone through the Barcelona fair to present its new smart phones. As expected, and after advancing the mid-range Magic5 Lite, the Huawei brand has completed the series with the top-of-the-range HONOR Magic5 Pro. The icing on the cake has been the international launch of its first foldable, the HONOR Magic Vs. Let’s review its main characteristics, availability and prices.

HONOR Magic5 Pro

Photography is today one of the most important functions of a smartphone and all manufacturers strive to raise the level. The new top of the range of Honor intends to highlight in this section with a rear camera system that placed in the form of a ring includes three 50 MP sensors for the main one, an ultra wide angle and a telephoto lens with 3.5x optical zoom, which can be further extended with digital zoom of 100x.

In addition to tall optics, the manufacturer relies on AI processing at all stages of imaging, from focusing to actual shutter speed. This helps speed up every image you take on the device. The screen supports local dimming to prevent flickering and is interesting especially in low light conditions. Saying that the panel can reach a maximum brightness of 1800 nits, more than enough to support high-intensity HDR content.

Your engine is a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, Qualcomm’s top of the range for 2023, along with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal storage. Its silicon carbon battery has a rather large capacity of 5450 mAh. It can be charged wired at 66W of power or via 50W wireless charging to power up quickly. It also supports reverse wireless charging to power other devices.

The terminal is IP68 certified for resistance to dust and water and has a fingerprint sensor under the screen. It pre-installs MagicOS 7.1 based on Android 13 and is distributed in black or green color finishes. It will be available from April for 1199 euro and the brand promises four years of both system and security updates.

HONOR Magic Vs

The first folding of the Chinese brand has already been launched in China and is now announced for sale in the international market. With a design similar to Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold (folded into a book), it has a double screen (interior and exterior). The manufacturer says that the hinge mechanism (ultralight and gearless) will withstand up to 400,000 foldsso it should last a total of 10 years with normal use before it breaks or malfunctions.

The internal screen offers a diagonal of 7.9 inches deployed, with a native resolution of 2,272 × 1,984 pixels and a refresh rate of 90Hz. The external screen also offers large dimensions, 6.45 inches with a native resolution of 2,560 × 1,080 and a refresh rate of 120Hz, topped by a magnesium alloy frame.

Its main engine is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 and also incorporates a dedicated chip for hardware security. Its main configuration is completed with 12GB of RAM (+ 7GB Honor RAM Turbo) and an internal storage capacity of 512 Gbytes.

Its camera system has a triple sensor setup at the rear, with a 54-megapixel Sony IMX800 main lens, a 50-megapixel wide-angle lens, and an 8-megapixel telephoto lens with x3 optics. For selfies, it has double chamber 16 megapixels, located on the internal and external screen.

The battery is 5000 mAh and has a fast charge of 66 W. The foldable is delivered with MagicOS 7.1 based on Android 13 in two colors, cyan or black. The HONOR Magic Vs is now available in Spain for a price of €1,599.
