After integrating the AI used for ChatGPT in Bing and Edge, Microsoft continues its offensive in the field of artificial intelligence with the arrival of a revolutionary new feature: Bing Image Creator.
Just a month ago, Microsoft completed its massive ten billion dollar investment in OpenAI, the startup behind conversational AI ChatGPT.
Indeed, the Redmond firm has launched a brand new version of its Bing search engine and Edge browser. From now on, both software embed “an AI-powered co-pilot” which powers ChatGPT. The result is two tools that are much smarter than in the past, and above all much more attractive.
With the recent integration of conversational AI on Bing, the search engine is experiencing unprecedented popularity. Microsoft records over 100 million chats to date. And on Tuesday, March 21, the American company took a new step in its use of AI with the launch of Bing Image Creator.
Microsoft will revolutionize image creation with Bing Image Creator
With this tool, Microsoft is about to revolutionize the creation of images. Bing Image Creator is based on a boosted version of the DALL-E model developed by OpenAI. Its principle is simple: it allows generate an image in a few moments based on a description of a few words.
“By entering an image description, providing additional context such as location or activity, or choosing an art style, Image Creator will generate an image from your own imagination.” writes Microsoft in its official press release.

Edge on its way to becoming the #1 browser?
Note that this feature is in preview mode, in other words, problems may arise. Another point, Bing Image Creator only supports English for now. Microsoft plans to add other languages soon, including French.
Eventually, Microsoft will also include Bing Image Creator in Edge, which will make it the first and only browser on the market with an AI-powered image generator. Just that. An icon will soon be available in the sidebar to create your image in seconds.
To conclude, Microsoft specifies that it has added additional protections in Image Creator. The firm has systems in place to prevent the generation of harmful or dangerous images. When a prompt can result in such an image, a warning is sent to the user and the command is blocked. Afterwards, a Bing Image Creator watermark is applied to each image to indicate their origin.
