How much does a Tesla cost in France? Here are the prices of each model

Teslas are the best-selling electric cars in France, in particular thanks to their fairly aggressive prices in their respective segments. So how much will Elon Musk’s electric cars cost in 2023? We tell you everything.

If electric cars have arrived on the market at fairly high prices, they have experienced significant price reductions in recent years, and this has especially been the case for Tesla. The policy of the American car manufacturer is to offer low priceswithout it being the cheapest cars on the market.

These aggressive prices allow certain models to be eligible for the ecological bonus in France, which further pulls prices down. Currently, Teslas have never been so affordable, so it may be time for many to go electric. We summarize all the prices for the different models in Elon Musk’s company catalog.

Tesla Model 3: the manufacturer’s most affordable sedan

The Tesla Model 3 is the cheapest electric car in Tesla’s catalog. Previously available in three different versions in France, the electric sedan has had a facelift since September 1, 2023. Indeed, Tesla has launched a brand new version of the Model 3 which benefits for the occasion from a redesigned design and better equipment and finishes.

From now on, users will be able to choose between only two versions: the Model 3 Propulsion and the Model 3 Grande Autonomie. Regarding the Performance version, it has for the moment been scrapped, but many leakers claim that a new edition is in preparation.

Tesla Model 3

The cheapest version is called ‘Rear-wheel drive’, which means it only has one engine and only the rear wheels are driven. The other two models offer a Dual Motor all-wheel drive, that is to say a motor in the front and one in the rear, with 4-wheel drive.

The main differences between the versions will essentially be their autonomy, their top speed, the maximum charging power, their weight, but above all their price. At Tesla, note that the most powerful version is not necessarily the most autonomous.

Among the options offered, let’s mention a choice of 5 colors on the outside and 2 on the inside, larger rims or even a tow hook at 1350 euros.

Tesla Model Y: the most popular compact SUV on the market

Despite its slightly higher price than the Tesla Model 3, Model Y is Tesla’s best-selling car. In 2023, it even managed to rise to third place among the most popular vehicles on the market, all engines combined. Its extra space and versatility quickly made it the best-selling electric car in France, far ahead of the competition.

Tesla Model Y

Like the Model 3, the Tesla Model Y is also available in three different versions. There is also a Propulsion model, a Long Range model and a Performance model. Again, only one of them is eligible for the ecological bonus. The options offered are identical to those of the Model 3, with the exception of the rims, which adapt to each vehicle.

Tesla Model X: the giant SUV

Bigger, more powerful, more modern and much more expensive than the Tesla Model Y, the Model X is clearly not what we can call a mainstream SUV. It is declined in two versions : a Dual Motor all-wheel drive as well as a Plaid model, with a Tri-Motor all-wheel drive.

Tesla Model X

The vehicle has the particularity of being able to accommodate 7 seats, if you opt for the paid option offered at 4200 €. The new Yoke steering wheel is also offered at 250 euros, but the tow hook is standard this time. There are also 5 colors on the outside, and no less than 3 for the interior.

Tesla Model S: the most powerful premium sedan

The Tesla Model S is a Model 3 without any concessions. This is the flagship electric car from Elon Musk’s company. Two Versions are also offered, one with Dual Motor All-Wheel Drive and an overpowered Plaid model. Options are similar to Model X, but no tow hitch is included. Note that Model S prices melted like snow in the sun in September 2023 on the occasion of the arrival of the new Model 3. The bill was reduced by more than €10,000 on both models.

How much do self-driving options cost?

Autopilot is standard on all Teslas. However, this is the Standard version, which only offers a few features. Among them, lane keeping, acceleration and automatic braking.

You will have to pay €3800 extra for improved Autopilot, with smarter features: autonomous entry and exit from your garage or autonomous parking, even in parallel or in battle. This option will mainly offer you Autopilot navigation, which allows you to change lanes automatically on the highway. There’s also dynamic cruise control with full stop and restart, steering assistance and overtaking of slow vehicles in your lane.

Tesla also offers another “fully autonomous driving capability” option for €7,500. It includes all the features of Enhanced Autopilot, and adds recognition and reaction to traffic lights and brake lights. It also allows your car to be equipped with a more powerful driving computer, which will eventually allow automated driving in the city. This functionality is already available across the Atlantic with the beta FSD, and should be deployed in a stable version in the coming months. In fact, Tesla is already testing fully autonomous driving in Europe.

Tesla is working on an ‘affordable’ compact car

The 4 cars offered by Tesla are not suitable for all garages or all budgets, which is why the manufacturer is working on a cheaper and more compact car designed for the city. Mentioned for the first time in an interview with Youtuber MKBHD in 2018, this one is still eagerly awaited.

From what we know, it will be a “small Model Y”, which should come in at around $25,000, according to statements by Elon Musk. In France, we can expect a rate closer to 30,000 euros, but this is before the deduction of the ecological bonus. The company’s goal would be to produce nearly 4 million units a year, in order to bring its price down.
