As TechCrunch tells us, Meta has just announced what will be the new form of income for many Instagram content creators. To do this, the company is going to bet on NFTs, providing these content creators with the necessary tools to create them and, incidentally, sell them directly to fans, both inside and outside this social network.
With this movement, Meta wants to give a new impetus to NFTs, which have been very slow lately, eliminating all the barriers that users encountered when trying to enter this world. To do this, Meta will allow the purchase and sale of NFTs from the app itself of Instagram, using the payment methods of Android and IOS, and without taking any commission (at least, for now).
The number of Instagram supported wallets It is also on the rise, currently being able to find support for the main Rainbow, MetaMask, Trust Wallet, Coinbase Wallet, Dapper Wallet, Ethereum, Polygon and Flow, as well as Phantom, one of the latest additions to the list.
At the moment, Instagram NFTs are only available to a very small group of users in the United States. Although, if all goes well, it won’t take long to reach more users and other countries, probably including Spain.
Other new ways to monetize on Instagram
NFTs aren’t the only new revenue stream Instagram is working on. In January of this year, Meta began testing a new subscription system Thanks to which, users who are very followers of an influencer could pay a monthly fee in exchange for having access to exclusive videos and content for paying users. In addition, paying users receive a special badge to stand out in the comments.
Another new form of monetization that we will be able to find on Instagram very soon are the stars, small commissions that users can send to their favorite content creators live while streaming, in true Twitch or TikTok style. And these Stars can also end up reaching other types of content that are not direct, such as photos or posts in the form of text.
