Note that the CEO of Blue Origin did not give details on how he intends to proceed, such as the exact percentage he intends to give or the name of the associations and NGOs that will receive these sums. Jeff Bezos joins Bill Gates in the circle of billionaire philanthropists

As CNN points out, this is the first time that Jeff Bezos has mentioned his wish to give away the majority of his fortune during his lifetime. “Yes, I’m considering it. The hard part is figuring out how to do it with leverage… It’s not easy. Building Amazon hasn’t been easy. It took a lot of hard work, a bunch of really smart teammates, and I see, and I think Lauren (ed: Lauren Sanchèz, current girlfriend of Jeff Bezos) notices the same thing – that the philanthropy is very similar. It’s not easy, it’s really difficult”he said at the microphone of CNN.

He pursues : “We are building the capacity to be able to give that money. There’s a bunch of ways I think you could make inefficient things ineffective, too.” After this declaration, Jeff Bezos therefore enters into the circle of billionaires determined to donate most or part of their fortune to charitable causes.

In July 2022, Bill Gates announced that he was going to donate his fortune to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. In the process, the co-founder of Microsoft also created The Giving Pledge, a campaign to encourage the world’s super-rich to donate the majority of their wealth to philanthropic causes. Note that Jeff Bezos, despite this recent statement, is still not one of the signatories.
