macOS 12.2 will include a new native Apple Music application

Apple Music is sued for unfair competition

Yesterday afternoon, Spanish time, the Apple guys launched the macOS 12.2 Monterey first beta, a new beta that is currently only available to the developer community. Although at first glance it seems that there is no important change, remember that the Universal Control function will not arrive until next year, there is a big change.

In this new beta, Apple has revamped the Apple Music app as a native macOS app to offer a better user experience. Until now, it was using webview, so it was slow and buggy quite regularly.

For this new native app, Apple has used AppKit, so the application should offer a smoother and more error-free user experience.

Apple released the app Apple Music for macOS with macOS Catalina In 2019, an application became independent from iTunes. macOS Catalina was the macOS version that eliminated all traces of the application that Apple made available to all users to make backup copies, copy content to devices, manage its content …

That app was just a apple music web launcher, so the user experience was very poor. By completely revamping it from scratch with AppKit, the app will receive a significant performance and stability improvement.

In this first beta, it is likely that the application still missing a few features, functions that will be added in successive updates, so that, when the final version is released, users hardly notice the change, beyond the improvement in its operation.

Regarding the release date of macOS 12.2, taking into account that we are at the end of December, it is most likely that until the end of January or the beginning of February, the final version is not released for all users.
