NetApp announces hybrid cloud solution for SMBs, in collaboration with Fujitsu and VMware

NetApp has launched a combined virtualization solutionspecifically designed for SMEs, in collaboration with Fujitsu and VMware. The solution offers an integrated virtualized infrastructure and aims to simplify and accelerate application management. It will be marketed by both Fujitsu and authorized Fujitsu partners, NetApp and VMware.

The technology used in its development includes VMware vSphere 8 virtualization software, Fujitsu Primergy servers with Intel x86 processors and NetApp All-Flash A150 storage systems, with NetApp ONTAP integration in vSphere.

The combination of VMware vSphere virtualization software, Fujitsu Primergy servers and NetApp All-Flash systems enables the implementation of an efficient cloud platform designed to seamlessly move workloads to the public cloud providers of SMBs’ choice. If desired, they can also return workloads to their facilities, maintaining operational consistency in the process.

This solution includes, as we have seen, NetApp’s ONTAP data management software, which integrates with vSpehere through an API, with the aim of simplifying storage provisioning and operations. It also carries a NetApp software suite, which includes technologies such as SnapCenter, SnapMirror, SnapRestore and FlexClone. All are intended to facilitate data management.

Jenni Flinders, Vice President of Global Partners at NetApprecalled that «the Small and medium-sized businesses need reliable technologies that deliver enterprise-grade capabilities, but often find available solutions complex and cost-prohibitive.. On the 25th anniversary of our collaboration with Fujitsu, we have decided to introduce a simplified and integrated virtualized infrastructure solution to the SMB market, providing an enterprise-class hybrid multi-cloud architecture at an affordable price.«.

For its part, Christian Leutner, Vice President and Head of European Platforms at Fujitsuhas pointed out that their collaboration with NetApp allows them «Deliver simplified and cost-effective virtualization solutions to our customers, helping them focus on innovation and achieve a competitive advantage«.

As to Ricky Cooper, Head of Partners at VMwarehas highlighted that they observe «a significant shift towards ‘cloud-smart’ approaches, rather than cloud-based solutions, as IT organizations look to realize faster ROI in their businesses«. Also that they offer customers, together with Fujitsu and NetApp, «an affordable, world-class hybrid cloud infrastructure for your workloads«.
