OnePlus announces the release of OxygenOS 3 in half-words, what about the unified OS with Oppo?

OnePlus created a surprise on its forums by opening a topic dedicated to OxygenOS 13. Problem, the overlay is not supposed to exist, since the manufacturer has announced its unification with ColorOS, that of Oppo. The launch periods do not correspond to each other.

September 2021: OnePlus and Oppo create a surprise by announcing the merger of their Android overlays, respectively OxygenOS and ColorOS. In theory, by the end of the year, unification will have taken place. The overlayer created should then be called H2OOS. But a recent statement from OnePlus could well change that.

In any case, it clearly creates confusion. Indeed, on its self-help forum, the Chinese firm opened a topic called Open Ears. The latter is dedicated to user questions regarding… OxygenOS 13. As you will have understood, there is a catch. Considering that the OnePlus 10 Pro is supposed to be the brand’s last smartphone with OxygenOS, the new version of the overlay should not exist.

OnePlus announces an overlay that wasn’t supposed to happen

On February 28, the members of the forum, up to 15 people, will therefore be able to discuss the functionalities of OxygenOS 13 with the developers. As a result, confusion reigns: while H2OOS is supposed to be released in the second half of 2022, what window shot does this leave to the new overcoat? Given the current situation, one could almost believe that the two OS will be launched simultaneously.

On the same subject: The OnePlus 10 Ultra would arrive without OxygenOS in the second half of 2022

You will agree, that would not be very logical. In all likelihood, H2OOS should make its debut on one of the two manufacturers’ flagships. the OnePlus 10 Ultra seems like the perfect candidate then. Especially since in China, the standard model is already running on ColorOS.

The most plausible option would then be that the unified system will arrive with a little delay. If so, OnePlus might attempt to fill the void with a new version of OxygenOS, before being replaced by H2OOS. But this assumption raises its own set of questions. For example, why would OnePlus not announce the delay of the unified overlay instead of discreetly opening its topic? Response hopefully within the next few days.
