I think you will agree with me that we all have a favorite operating system, and I am sure that many of you will also have a favorite PC componentone that remained etched in your memory for its excellent performance, for its fantastic useful life, or perhaps simply for its design.
I want to focus this new opinion article on that topic, and as usual I’m going to be the first to get wet. My favorite PC component out of all the ones I’ve owned has been the GeForce 9600 GT assembled by XFX Which I rode on a full kit revamp that I did between late 2008 and early 2009 if I remember correctly.
I chose that graphics card because I had a very tight budget, and did not want to neglect other important components, such as the processor and RAM. The GeForce 9600 GT was capable of very good performance, just slightly below what we would have at that time with a GeForce 8800 GT, and it was much cheaper at a price.
At the time it offered excellent value for money, so much so that I seem to remember that there was nothing better in its price range. I was considering investing more in a GeForce GTX 260, but it had to unbalance the team too much, and in the end I settled on the GeForce 9600 GT. This is my favorite PC component because it allowed me to play for many years for very little moneypractically until DirectX 11 became mandatory, and because it had a very cool design for its time.
Yet the truth is I was left with the desire to get a GeForce GTX 275 from Inno3D. At the time I really liked the decoration that this assembler used, and in performance it was almost at the level of a GeForce GTX 280 but it was much lower in price, so it was a better option. Unfortunately I have not been able to find any on the second-hand market, it seems that few units were sold and that there are none left in circulation, a pity.
