Problems with the battery of your Joy-Cons? Try to reset them like this

The controls of the Nintendo Switch surprised by their movement capabilities and haptic response, but over time they have given many users great headaches. To the joystick problems which seem to have a dead zone (although Nintendo refuses to admit the error), it seems that many users are having connection problems with their controllers. You are one of them? They try to prove this.

Joy-Con won’t turn on

Switch Joy-con Problems

There is a widespread problem that seems to be affecting many users, and the level of cases that exist is such that Nintendo has had to publish a small guide to quickly solve the problem. The cases that usually occur are the following:

  • The Joy-Cons they don’t turn on
  • The battery indicator Joy-Con not displaying correctly while paired to a Nintendo Switch.
  • The battery charge of the Joy-Con does not last long enough despite being charged for 3 hours and a half (recommended time by Nintendo).

After identifying some of these situations, the steps to follow to fix the problem seem to be quite identified, since Nintendo has shared the necessary steps.

How is it solved?

Reviewing the steps that Nintendo has shared, everything seems to be related to some type of residual energy that causes the controllers to not charge correctly. The steps to perform are the following:

  • Make sure you are using the original Switch charger. The reference number is HAC-002since there are fake chargers that cause a lot of problems.
  • Unplug the charger from the socket and also unplug it from the Switch dock for at least 30 seconds.
  • Detach the Joy-Cons from your Nintendo Switch and press once on the small Synchronize (SYNC) button that is hidden on the side of the controllers. This will cause the controls to be reset.
  • Reconnect the controllers to the console.
  • Plug the charger you unplugged earlier into the wall and plug it directly into your Nintendo Switch.

Your controls should appear connected and showing the active charging icon.

A simple solution

As you can see, it is enough to carry out four simple steps to completely reset the connection and the charging of the controls so that everything returns to normal. As we said, everything seems to point to a residual power problem that could prevent the Joy-Cons from receiving power from the Switch, hence resetting all power connections serves to reset the charging cycle of the entire system.

Remember to do these steps every time you have problems with charging, although once solved, it would be quite rare for it to happen again so suddenly. With these steps you should forget about the connection problems that cause so many headaches, especially when after a long time you decide to play a game of Mario Kart 8 with your friends. Isn’t it annoying?
